Ban Management

Aside from about 20 spam accounts and a few select users posting pro-bot arguments, I had to ban a "range" of IP addresses using wild cards.

This may / may not affect other users.

If you are having problems please contact, and I will look into it.

Last note.

Users posting pro bot arguments or openly bragging about Old Johnny will be banned.

Even if people feel sorry for you.
Even if users post threads petitioning your SRF existence.
Even if you make a freedom of speech post.

You will be banned.

wouldent banning with wildcards in IP's be relatively destructive? I understand that you havent banned the world, but using a wild card for any octet is effectively banning ~250 people. Whether that was the intention or not.

Also, by banning ip's what if i am randomly assigned an ip which you have banned?

I understand that banning needs to take place. I jsut dont know if banning ranges of IP's with wild cards is the most effective method.

Most of that falls under acceptable losses.

Billions and billions of IP addresses in the world.

The current IP system allows for 4,228,250,625 IP adress combinations.

As said, if there happens to be a problem, contact.

Ryoko do you think you could post a ban list each month of who you have banned we know about spam bots but nice to see a list rather then someone just disppearing

The list of spambots, pr0n and drug sellers is pretty huge. I was shocked. For every one you see there's probabaly at least 10 you didn't. They go away daily.

I'm a fan of a posted ban list, but I'd say to keep it locked to prevent whining from those on it (that make new accounts) and their groupies.

A ban list would be excellent to show that this forum does not support botting, gold buying or any other bannable matters. Especially since it is a big part of the game to alot of players coming here.

I used to be able to keep my flaimining kept verbaly between me and my computer screen, but the ammount of pro-botters posting here lately has really changed that.

Just like in real life people answer those questions they deem to be important. It's also possible that people are unavailable.

If you don't get a response from a mod, or admin there's probabaly a reason and there's no need to make a public post about it.

If it is vitally important (like when the OTL was having issues) try contacting a couple mods. Usually at least one person is on throught the day, every day.

iv been waiting months for some replys or even longer, i asked him for permission to form SD on tibet before it opened he never replied only reply iv got was when when i found out about the outbox and check if they have read the mails also iv had replys when i was wanring him of soemthing ingame never any other time to my memory except when the forum was new but i pmed ppl loads then
