This is not what it looks like. The person actually left some time before you entered, but for some reason the chat client doesn't refresh itself until another person enters the room. So if I were to pop in and out of the chat right now, ten minutes later someone who joined might immediately see "Bakemaster has left" even though I haven't been there for ten minutes.
