Like/Unlike, Thumbs Up/Thumbs down feature.

I'm sure this has been mentioned/asked before.
But, could it be possible to add a thumbs up/thumbs down feature for posts? I've seen this feature implemented in many forums, and it works wonderfully.

Edit:
I may be missing the ball completely here, but I assume srf is running on phpbb3; so I went on ahead and looked for mods on the phpbb forum 8)

This is the closest thing to what I'm talking about:

Maybe... Just have a like button? Having a dislike is more easily abused.

You're just worried that no one will "like" your posts.

I like this.

I wouldn't see the point of this feature tho.

Less
+1, lol, this., etc. posts.

Also, so I can like all of dom's posts and then make other accounts and like his posts with those accounts too.

I see what you mean though. I'm sure we can only speculate how effective it would be though.

I always it thought it looked cluttered when i saw it on other forums. Seeing a ton of names under some post is a turnoff for me.

I would be honored if someone actually dislike my posts. :sohappy: :sohappy:

What we need is when you hover over the mouse over the thread title, a small part of the first post should show up, in that case we know if the thread is worth reading or not.

Yeah I suggested that before, it would be so useful.

Go ahead and throw in a reputation system while you're at it! Reps for every one!

This is now a rep trade thread.

+1

I'm being serious.

New plan: Let's see how many dislikes we can get.

Totally going to beat you. And then after that, I'll beat you at this competition too.

We have that already, it's called checking to see who created the topic in the first place.

I sense sarcasm.

without the dislike button

Plenty of sites have the 'thumbs' feature and it works well for them.

Excluding the down button would be catering to our fear of rejection.

What your really describing, although a great feature is a massive undertaking.

You don't see too many mods that do it because of the sheer complexity involved.

Every post now has to keep track of every user who liked and disliked.

The phpbb_posts tabe would need reworked.
All code in the board that uses this table needs reworked.
All templates that use it and all files that use it.
phpbb_users might need some work.

I cannot describe how many php and template files this board uses to run each day.

A note about those mods - even with the auto installer, mods rarely ever install without hundreds of errors. Especially on our system, as we are deeply customized. The last one I intalled is still broken -.- and largely irreversable

What were honestly hoping for, is for PHPBB to include this feature in a future build. That would be the meal ticket.
