It was a spambot, or moron breaking some rules.

The message, can be read as an attempt at comedy.

So, he's not just banned for stealing Ru's avatar.

So your saying one of the reasons he got banned was stealing Ru's avatar

aside from being a spam bot? Lets take it as if it was a normal member.

Correct me if I m wrong. Thanks. :)

He's probably banned for doing something against SRF's TOS. Not stealing an avatar, i hope. The avatar stealing thing, probably can be read as an attempt at comedy.

Not like anyone should get banned for 'stealing' an avatar. Property issues.

people have in the past been banned for ripping
someone else's signatures. as in taking them and
using them as their own without permission. this
all had to do with copyrights and the simple fact
that you just don't go and take something someone
else put a lot of effort in.

Well, how could you know if the avatar he stole was taken by the original one from Google, do these rights still apply, and thus result in him getting banned?

To make it a little bit more clear, my avatar is from Google, if someone else on these forums comes up with the same avatar, he will get banned? And how would you know if it is copyrighted or no, or I just got it simply from Google, unless I stated it?

Wouldn't it be easier to email or private message the mod who acted rather than bringing it up here?

:?

For some, finding the PM button can be quite the challenge.

I thought it would be better if we discuss it, anyhow thanks for the Mods for clearing it up. :)

Im sure if someone intentionally, or unintentionally took a mods Avatar, they'd just be asked to change it.

If they refused to change it, most likely one of the admins would change it for them.

If neither of these resolve the issue, then a temp ban slap on the wrist might go out.

If your worry is, you have the same avatar as someone else, even by accident, and your perma banned on the spot for it, then your worrying a little bit too much imo
