google and other sites have always given sites relevancy scores before. maybe this just ranks them based on relevancy and the number of hits to the site?

It plays a part in determining your scoring order when sites have the same search keywords (silkroad online)
It also sorts sites listed in the google 'site directory' by rank (I have not added us to the directory yet).
And I need to tweak some other things.

No it got nothing to do with 'hits' or visits really.
All mostly SEO knowledge and how to set it up, and get ranked really high.
Google search for 'silkroad online' currently shows us 3rd or 4rth, but I intend to get that higher in the future.

Very Happy
Do you have personalized search turned on?
It's shows up ~#6 for me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm using Firefox.
When I found this site the first time I searched for "silkroad forums" because I wanted to get info on the game and the official site was in cypher...
Traffic / Hits do(es) play a part in page rank, as do the number of pages that link to you, meta tags, the duration of the domain registration, the length of time the domain has been around, etc. There're lots of other sneaky tricks for search engine ranking.

I see the offical site.
I see joymax's site.
I see our site.
Traffic / Hits do(es) play a part in page rank...
No trade secrets will be given out today (unless paying clients of course.)

Hm... it now shows up #3 for me as well. I wonder if the search cache was slow to update or something. Or I'm blind. Either is possible.

Google does weird things like that. They call it something....
Err... Google jump... can't remember
Sometimes my other sites won't even be on the list, but the next day back in the top five. Only google knows why.
However, NEW sites get a short google bonus to help promote it in the first couple weeks of indexing (we are well past that) before it burries it back down in the sandbox.
Thus, all the countless articles and theories on it. You know google doesn't tell anyone how this stuff REALLY works.
It might be bouncing up and down in rank until it gets a solid number. My only guess.

Maybe it's bouncing because it's excited!...
Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
