What is Wakfu?

Wakfu is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) that takes place in the fantastic medieval universe created by Ankama Games.
What's an MMOG?
Above all, an MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) is a game. Thousands of players connect to this game from a computer to access to a wide world. In this world, compound of islands, forests, and cities inhabited by creatures, they can either team up with or confront other players. In-game activities include hunting creatures, exploring dungeons, practicing a profession and creating a guild.
Do I need an Internet connection to play?

Indeed, you must have an Internet connection to play. This is essential to be able to download and play Wakfu.
Does Wakfu have elements that can be played solo?

The first hours of the game can be played solo. The player will learn the specific characteristics of his character when totally immerged in the story of Wakfu. Once the player will have been introduced to the fighting system and the magic, he'll be able to start the adventure along with other players.
Is it a turn-based game or a real time game?

The fighting system of Wakfu is called turn-based. It has game mechanics that favor action and tactics. You'll find there all the standards or the Tactical MMORPG which became popular with DOFUS. For instance, agile thieves can elude traps and locks, magi can play with time...
Is the game based on the skills or on the levels of the character?

Your character evolution will be based on the actions you'll make. Each action will lead to your gaining experience points. For some actions you'll need strength. The more you'll do actions of this type (for instance, cut a tree requires strength) and the stronger you'll get. The stronger you are, the more you are able to cast spells or do actions that require you to be strong.
How many different classes will be available?

All 12 classes of DOFUS will be available in Wakfu, with a new design and new spells. Besides, other classes will also appear as the game goes.
Will it be possible to fight other players?

The PvP mode (Player versus Player) will be an integral part of Wakfu.
When will the game be launched?

The official release date of Wakfu will soon be communicated.
Is there a date scheduled for a beta-test?

The date of the closed beta-test will soon be communicated. It is expected to be in October or November of 2007. The open beta-test is expected to start at the end of 2007.

Will I have to pay to play?

Just like DOFUS, Wakfu will have a free-to-play area, quite representative of the content of the game. The paying mode will include a subscription system and the sales of virtual items.
