You guys hear about this? Crytek is claiming they made tweaks to their Cry engine so a budget pc will be able to run high settings ($600). I guess we will see how true this is lol.

In addition, there will be a public demonstration showing how well the fully optimized engine can perform on a budget PC which can be put together for around 600 dollars complete, including keyboard and mouse. Visitors will be able to see for themselves the extremely high quality that can be achieved on relatively inexpensive consumer hardware today using the CryENGINE® 2.

Not surprising, they always tweak their engines. Look at Vegas, that was hard on a system, really hard. Now the new Vegas 2 you can run it on full high settings and no slow down on which with Vegas, you would get bad frames.

CryEngine and Unreal Engine 3 are completely different monsters. UE3 has been used in multiple games, probably because of how well made it is. CryEngine however, is being advertised by claiming it will run if you have a $600 machine. Frankly, I lol'd.

Thats obvious...if you were replying to me. But its not uncommon for engines to be tweaked and updated between games. That was just an example.

I just love Crysis's graphics but the engine is so inefficient, hopefully they carry out their promises this time and make it better

Personally I think the Unreal engine 3 is awesome because it is manages to run so smooth and still look really good

I run:
Intel Dual Core 3ghz CPU (Not core duo)
8500GT 512 Video card
2GB DDR2 OCZ ram
IDE Farking harddisks
And hell of a good cooling system.
Which by today's prices won't even reach 600$ with a cheap CRT 17" Monitor, and Crysis runs at 40-50 FPS on mid set settings and 2X AA. I don't think this game is that much of a system killer as they claim it to be.

that's probably because your running at a 1280x1024 res, you are correct at that res or lower it isn't very hard to run at all. It's mostly at 22inch and higher monitors it starts to get harder

It took 3 nivida gtx 280's and an intel qx9770 with "very high detail" to be playable on crysis.
