Now that the consoles have reached a point where the graphics have almost reached there maximum amount of potential do you think that microsoft and sony will set there minds on making there games better? Like for 7 generations of consoles( as Wiki says) every console has been trying to beat each other at which has the best grapics do you think that they will keep there efforts on the game.

There are a select few games that are good but 90% of games are shit these days. Like the halo series was a bunch of bull shit space trilogy type shit.

So now that the consoles have reached the ron devou point do you think they will set there goals on making a epic games like Metal Gear Solid?

Kinda like the idea you get.

I was thinking that to myself, but slightly different some time ago.

What are they gonna do once consoles/computers are real life/photo quality?

:D

I think they will indeed make better games. And work on capacity of the games/console's hard drive which will make the games extremely big and hard to finish :)

I'm not a console gamer btw, i'm 100% computer.
Had a PS1, Have a PS2 but No-No to consoles.

they haven't reached their peak.

i remember when the ps1 came out i thought those graphics were ridiculously amazing.
now go back and play them and they're extremely pixelated yet you wouldn't have known that back in the day.

exactly. you will always think its the best at a certain time and cant be better. but after a few years pass by, you realize how off you were.

But yea there will be a certain point of digital photo-realistic graphics in games, at which i think they will finally start focusing more on revolutionizing gameplay, story lines, and lasting appeals.

The only problem I see with video games getting to real life quality is if people blamed GTA: San Andreas for their violence how will people like that be able to handle a game in which the blood looks real, the bullet impacts look real and a .50cal to the face actually looks like the pixel character took a .50cal to the face.

... Well You can count on a game that traffic not to be sold...
That would be ridiculous and not to mention extremely expensive to make.

Talking of expense.

What people dont realise is that today video games are made very much in the same way
movies are and likewise cost a LOT of money to make. For example GTA:IV cost around
(according to sources) $13 million to make, and Halo3 cost only $20 million to make
but had a $100 million advertisements campaign.

But going back on topic, grahpics arnt really everything to gamers now adays...its more
quality over quantity.
a clear example of this is DS>PSP and Wii>PS3+360. Two consoles which cant even
compare to their rivals in terms of power, still manage to out sell them due to
initiative and good game play and games.

Games haven't reached film industry producing costs (yet)
Newest Bond film production costs were $230 million.

That's excluding the advertisement campaign.

People that buy handhelds don't care about graphics. The DS is beating the PSP but the GBA was beating both of them for a long time.

The Wii is only in the lead because of casual gamers. And the Wii certainly lacks quality. The majority of the games are crap minigames or games that have been dumbed down into crap for casual gamers. Mario Kart Wii, SSX Blur, etc. Just about any real gamer will choose a 360 or PS3 over the Wii unless they're a fan of Nintendo or one of their big franchises.

We are far from the peak of graphics. Right now everyone defines realism as either very dark with hardly any variety in colors, people who look like plastic, and/or the mindset that you turn in a ragdoll and lose all feeling in your body when injured or thrown. In my opinion, that is not realism.

I Have to admit you have a really good point. but thens theres a human factor of knowing its not real.

if i ever get to see somin like that on a video game.
id prolly go somin like this.

"OH MY FU CKING GAWD THAT WAS FUC KING AWSOME!!!!"
