GAME NEWS 30/03/2014: 1,000 devs signed up to PS4

Post by satman83 »

Well here is a thread for game news :P

Wii Thread

01/06/07 = Confirmed: No Starcraft II in 2007

Blizzard VP confirms to MSNBC that the recently unveiled real-time strategy sequel won't arrive until at least 10 years after the original.

When Blizzard Entertainment unveiled Starcraft II earlier this month, the reaction among the original fans was apoplectic. Though the game's official release date remains "when it's ready," there was some hope that it might arrive by the end of the year.

Starcraft II Producer Chris Sigaty pimps his RTS.

Such sentiments came in part from a GameSpot video interview with lead producer Chris Sigaty. In it, he said that Blizzard usually takes "three and a half or four years to finish a game" and that Starcraft II would enter alpha testing later in the year. Since the company has publicly said that Starcraft II had been in development since 2003, that led some to believe the game could come in 2007.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Speaking with MSNBC, Blizzard vice president of game design Rob Pardo ruled out any possibility that Starcraft II would join the crush of titles coming out this holiday season.

22/5/07 = Super Smash Bros. Brawl re-confirmed for '07

NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime vows to Nintendo Summit audience that the eagerly awaited Wii title will join Super Mario Galaxy, Phantom Hourglass on this year's docket.

As his colleague George Harrison gave a rosy Wii sales forecast to the financial press, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime preached the Mario Factory gospel to a captive audience--the journalists attending the Nintendo Summit in Seattle.

Much of Fils-Aime's speech tread familiar ground. Armed with sales figures from the April 2007 NPD report, which had the Wii and DS selling 471,000 and 360,000 units, respectively, he made much sport of the fact that Sony's new PlayStation 3 console finished 2,000 units behind the four-year-old Game Boy Advance SP.

Corporate bravado aside, Fils-Aime's speech did contain some major announcements--or, more accurately, confirmations. The physically imposing executive allayed many-a-Nintendan's fear by promising that three of his company's biggest 2007 titles would indeed arrive before the stroke of midnight on December 31.

The most anticipated one of the bunch was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the forthcoming Wii fighting game. Though the game was originally slated for a 2007 release, speculation had grown in recent months that it, like many Nintendo titles, might slip past its original release date.

That's one character i probably could never play right since i could never SHB and shine right w/ him. I perfer shiek as my main and i play link when i get bored of that.

I'm glad SSBB is going to come out this year, but i'm not sure im not overly excited about it because i think it might be a bit of a disapointer compared to melee due to some changes.

I'm good with fox cause of his speed. My tactic is to always activate shield and use the shield dodge a lot. Then when timing is right, I land smash attacks, and I don't stop there. While my opponent is in the air I tend to juggle them until they're out of the arena. And my other tactics I can;t explain. Talk is cheap I let my controller do the talking. :P Anyone up for stock match? :P

My second best would be Falcon. Besides the starfox chars, I'm good with Link too.

He's not a nintendo character though. Besides I doubt he'll have any super fighting moves.

EDIT: yeah I just saw a news article about him being in SSB

that's old news, dahh.
And btw, solid's special move will be hiding in his safety box. :P
Anyway, i can't wait.
I've played smash bros. since it came out on the n64, and i have it on the GC and it's the best game for the gamecube.

PS: falco rocks ur asses!

Yeah Falco/Fox rox If you know how to use them. My friends have a hard time using them. It just takes some experience. The only diffrence between fox and falco is that falco is slower but the slight increase in damage makes up for it. You can't beat fox in speed. I bet Solid Snakes taunting move will be either smoking a cigarette or putting a porn magazine down on the floor lol.

I have the n64 and the GC game. I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!

24/05/07 = Aussie game charts: May 14-May 20

God of War II for the PlayStation 2 has taken out the top spot in the Australian game sales charts for the third week in a row, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Kratos' latest bloody trip through Greek mythology was strong enough to hold off stiff competition from Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, which has taken out both second and fourth spot. The recently released Xbox 360 version narrowly beat the PC version to come in at second. Last week's release of the Halo 3 Beta seems to have helped sales of 360 actioner Crackdown, which came in at number 10 overall for the week of May 14 to May 20.

Top 10 Full-Priced Games1. God of War II, PS2
2. Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Xbox 360
3. SingStar Rocks! bundle, PS2
4. Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, PC
5. Resistance: Fall of Man, PS3
6. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?, Nintendo DS
7. Diddy Kong Racing DS, Nintendo DS
8. World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, PC
9. World of Warcraft, PC
10. Crackdown, Xbox 360

24/05/07 = Assassin's Creed Pre-E3 Update

Ubisoft showed off next to nothing new on the hotly anticipated action game at its recent event, but you knew we were going to write about it anyway.

First of all, the new trailer doesn't even touch on the science fiction tie-in at the end of last year's E3 demo. Raymond says fans will have to wait until even after this year's E3 to find out anything more about the game's potentially time-traveling or otherwise futuristically influenced plot twist

The trailer doesn't show off a lot in terms of new gameplay, but it does seem to place an emphasis on equestrian combat. We were pretty into the retractable blades that you'll be able to hide underneath your sleeves (which can be seen in the trailer), but then, we like to look at the game's hero Altaïr as some sort of medieval ninja. The last gameplay element we got any info on was the leap of faith, a move that will facilitate your quick exit from the scene of your nefarious doings.
