Really good concept brought to life...

It's an interesting concept, but I doubt a young company will be able to pull off something like this successfully.
They might eventually end up disappointing because of all the hype.

Although this game looks interesting, it's not something for me. Wishes all the best for it, though! :)

Here's how alpha looks, couple player-made videos starting with the Minotaur:

Code: Select all

...then sieges & voxel destruction:

Code: Select all

and Confessor (fire mage):

Code: Select all

It's still alpha, still rough - not worth the money unless you want to support the game early. They will have open beta i.e. free tests sometime in 2017, before launch.

Ah, thanks for the update!

If there's a free beta, I might as well check it out at some point in 2017 :)

You are welcome! Also the game will look much more like a...well...GAME when beta starts =)

Here is how alpha looks now (skip first 100 seconds, that's where he uses 2015 footage to explain the game to his subscribers):

Code: Select all HptlLpR71sk

...and, say, a Van Helsing rat:

Code: Select all

Hm... alright, it actually doesn't look too bad, I'll have to admit. Didn't watch the entire of the videos, but is there anything else in the game than just PVP matches?

Yep, tests now look like MOBA, but final game will have player building and voxel destruction through sieges (fight for territory control), trading & economy, gathering, mining, caravans, more friendly & hostile NPCs, guilds...all that happening on continent-sized servers with 1-2000 concurrent players.

Also, gender choices and character customization will be there, characters now in tests are both gender locked and "cloned". For example of non-combat content, here's video on gathering & crafting, they just introduced it:

Code: Select all

Alright, I'm officially hyped!

I like that aspect way more than the PVP shown before. So, in essence, this is a "classical" MMO, but without the levels and monster killing (unless you want to skin the dead monster for crafting purposes). And with campaign "servers" that launch and actually have an end-point too.

The more I read about this, the more interesting it sounds.

Yep, there will be no quests & dungeons - it is a kind of medieval EVE Online, they even use its offline leveling and death mechanics (http://imgur.com/a/jbuKL, think of it as body = EVE ship).

That is, account is tied to crow-spirit and bodies will be just items, craftable through necromancy skill, from white/green to epic or legendary quality, to use WoW terms.

Crafting will be very similar to that of Star Wars Galaxies, in fact the same SWG people are working on it. And universe will consist of many dying servers + many persistent ones made by players, with complicated connections i.e. ways to travel between these, based on queues, cooldowns, rewards & penalties, permissions by other players etc... but players should be (?) spending majority of their time playing in Campaigns (dying servers) untill some faction or guild wins.

Does look interesting. I'm a little bit skeptical of the "EVE mechanics" but as it stands I might buy it on release. Any idea of when a closed/open beta might start?

Game is technically in alpha, but they started inviting beta 1 backers (pledges worth $69 and more) to tests since couple weeks ago.

Now, free tests i.e. open beta is tricky to assess: developers even plan soft launch (game with core mechanics and features) for "end of summer 2017", but that's IMO too optimistic. I'd say open beta is Q4 2017 at best.

Yea it looks like nothing special, furthermore tests are a buggy mess ATM. Here is a couple, well, less than standard features:

- Strange death mechanics, account/identity is tied to spirit and not body (as I already mentioned, here's a comic about that - http://imgur.com/gallery/jbuKL);

- A mix of MMORPG and strategy games such as Civilization (say, victory conditions), they even played Risk in the Kickstarter video;

- Each server will have unique disposal of valleys, mountains, canyons, rivers... and similar to that, players/guilds will be able to procedurally generate their own kingdoms;

- Atop of that, buildings will be player-made (modular = creating stuff from pieces such as wall sections, towers...) and fully destructible, like voxel-destruction;

- Rules on different servers will be extremely varied: from free for all (friendly fire) with full corpse loot to "standard" ones such as two/three factions, say like Elder Scrolls Online or dark Age of Camelot - this includes possible varying of resource spawn rates, physics or even things such as different strength of magic vs melee;

- Universe will be made of both persistent and temporary servers, with latter lasting 1-3 months - until one of guilds/factions dominates it or achieves one of victory conditions;

- As server moves to it's end, the look/texture of the world changes (over four seasons, from spring to winter), including monsters looks and strength/hostility. Resources and food are becoming more and more rare, monsters much stronger and more aggressive etc.

Well, I guess I listed everything that matters!?

Templar is in player tests, here's a quick look at base combos:

Code: Select all

Now, I enjoy a lot playing tanky/healy classes, but I'm not really a fan of these animations. I hope they'll polish it...like, a lot.

Yeah, as you said, the animations don't look that great. Thanks for the updates btw :)
