It will be available soon as a free stand-alone operating system for living room machines.

Yeah this is pretty cool seeing Steam is trying to push itself into people's living rooms, I can only hope that they know they should prioritize PC>Being a console.
But yeah, definitely looking forward to the next 2 announcements.
Steambox is a given.

Heh as I understand w8 has better gaming performance than w7 and they are trying new things which I don't necessarily mind. My issues are more along the lines of them quite possibly having backdoors ( security concerns ) and them releasing a new version every 2 weeks, thats shitty product support as I see it.
Brb collecting billions that I can use to create incremental improvements to sell you at full price again, and again, and again.

Anything but Google...
They are actually even worse than MS.
They have no sense at all for what's good/user friendly and what isn't. The difference between MS and Google in that regard is that Google doesn't even announce anything and give you a chance to bitch about how shitty it is. They just develop, implement and sit back while all their users rage...

Microsoft is only going to kill itself. With moves like Vista made in a year and Windows 8, it'll happen eventually. Though with Steve ballmer leaving.. who knows.
