I'm guessing you clicked on the steam id or something, redirecting you to your steam page and asking you for your password to log into steam?

No, im trying to reset the password of one of the accounts I purchased TF2 on when it was on sale cause I forgot it, and now i'm getting an email with the confirmation code and what I pasted. It's requesting the confirmation code and the secret answer to a question.

If i'm reading that right then it's asking me what Steam last reset my pass phrase to. If I remembered that, I wouldn't be trying to reset my password -_______-

Though it's a good idea for the Steam sales. A lot of the times whenever a game goes on sale on Steam generates a huge amounts of sale. I remember for GMod Garry posted that the total amount sold during his first sale.
