Betcha didn't think this day would come, but it finally has. Sony has just come clean with its next-generation PlayStation Portable. It's actually codenamed NGP and will revolve around five key concepts: Revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual (augmented) Reality. It will be compatible with the PlayStation Suite and is backwards-compatible with downloadable PSP games and content from Sony's PlayStation Store.
Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not nubs as on the current generation), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass, and cameras on both the front and back. Available this holiday season. Wait... what?!
-Engadget
I remember back when we were having heated debated about the PSP2 and people were saying it would have a quad-core and I greatly disagreed, well damn guys. You got me good!
Though imo, i think the design looks shit, old design was better

It looks good. Seems to have a lot of the key features of the 3DS, such as the front and rear camera and the motion sensor system.
Question is...for a handheld that wont be offering the same 3D gaming experience...will it be cheaper or more expensive?

Remember when microsoft said they would have their own handheld console...lol
This will be an intresting next few years for the handheld market both the 3DS and PSP2 going against each other. Both are somewhat similar and both with the same most likely range of mature/ puzzle games.

Now for Sony to announce the price, and the world to scream together, "DO NOT WANT"
Personally, I think it will be $400 minimum, maybe even $500.

I'm personally astounded that from all that is mentioned for the PSP2, all satman seems to care about is the 3d that the 3ds has. It's basically saying "o shit, the PS3 has fantastic graphics and can play HD movies but I rather play GameCube cuz it has Smash Bros."

lol re-read what i wrote , i was that given how the 3DS has 3D and is being sold for about £210 GBP could we expect the PSP2 to be cheaper, or around about the same price as it has almost the same functions and devices built into it. I personally think it will be a bit more. But the main questions is software...how much will games cost?
I mean would you really want to spend the the same amount of money for a console game as a handheld game?

GPS Six axis motion sensing (OK 3DS could have this, but I don't think it does) 3G Networking Quad core processor
While I admit I haven't really checked the specs of 3DS, I doubt it has these things. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Point is, 3D capabilities will not be the only cause for the price, so saying "i was that given how the 3DS has 3D and is being sold for about £210 GBP could we expect the PSP2 to be cheaper, or around about the same price as it has almost the same functions and devices built into it." is a bit ignorant... Once again, I don't know much about 3DS, so there is ignorance on my part as well.
Edit: Also, you put line breaks in the most retarded damned places.

I know its super sexy isnt it
TOPIC I may buy both when they come out, but for me it depends on one of two things. The games available on launch and pricing.

Also specs for the 3DS are hard to find apart from generic ones.
It seems to have a six axis motion sensing and gyro sensor combination. but i just doubt its as powerful as the PSP2.

most people at comparing the 3DS to the gamecube considering "it has GameCube quality graphics" was a big advertising position that Nintendo was taking when they announced it.

lol i doubt that considering what some games on the DS look like, and the fact its meant to be as powerful as a PSP. Anyway i found this...its dated from september of last year but according to this website herethe 3DS will have 2 266MHz ARM11 CPUs , a 133MHz GPU with 4MB of dedicated VRAM, 64MB of regular RAM and 1.5GB flash storage. So if its right not as good as a PSP2.

There is no chance it would be as good as PSP2, not out of fanboyism, but because that isn't Nintendo's way. Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo, but they don't do anything that would cost them out the ass to make and sell. Their tech tends to be a bit older for the pure fact that they know the device will sell and thus if they make it cheap, they make a huge profit.

Which makes the rumors of a new Nintendo console which is meant to rival the 360/PS3 being revealed at this years E3 very intresting.
Back on topic, has the PSP2 been given a date yet? and am guessing Japan first, then American and most likely Europe last

Yah everyone knows Nintendo half asses it's products to make money. Sony in other hand takes one for the team and loses on it, but it in the long run they'll still profit, BUT they do their best for the consumer and not like the greedy fucks over at nintendo

Nintendo doesn't half ass it, they worry about the bottom line. And unfortunately, the public has spoke with their dollar; games running on an older system are still sell-able so long as the game is of quality and all of its mechanics work well.
