i just got battlefield bad company 2. but what do i do to make steam detect that game when i play it?

You have to buy it from steam. Otherwise, you can only add it as a non-steam game:

"Games > Add non-steam game to my games list"

rly? i bought modern warfare 2 and alien vs predator from walmart and they both run on steam.

if it aint bought and downloaded from steam its a non steam game simple as

when i bought counter strike source pack from best buy i entered the cd key into steam and it registered as a steam game. though most normal games you do whats said above.
