Pay for the game + expansions but no monthly costs.

But GW is pretty much dead.

Beat it you haters, Guild Wars is one of the finest MMO's I ever played (granted it's not really an MMO but w/e).
It's loads of fun, and I can really recommend buying prophecies and just doing the campaign there. Fun story, really fun missions (sometimes challenging as well). Just a real fun game, you know.. what gaming is all about.

It is a fine mmo, though the above posts are correct, about 6 or so years late. I would try waiting for GW2, or ask a friend to let you use their account to try it out.

Not thaat dead, but what is annoying is that whenever the game starts being fun, they decide the best possible solution is to just nerf it. And I'm not even talking about perma.
Still indeed, better wait for GW2. And post in the right section. :)

Im a HUGE fan of GW,but Ill be honest here, just wait for GW2.

You can play now,but you will have a harder time in PvE searching for groups. If I was in the competetive PvP scene atm Id still be playing.

Its sad this game lost it popularity, because its really a great game.

Meanwhile you can join the hype for GW2 on www.guildwars2guru.com :) (Im Kyo)

GW is one of the best mmos out there, rich story telling if you're into PvE stuff, really competitive PvP as well. Although leveling is not really an issue (cap at 20, can do that in a few hours if you know what you're doing). The gear collecting and skill collecting is, you gotta go buy skills and unlock weapons and upgrades. And endgame armor cost a fortune, although it doesn't give you a stats boost, its only for the looks.

The game is well balanced and lots of PvE and competitive PvP guilds out there. PvP is so fun, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat, and there's no auto pot like silkroad, you're solely relying on your healer or your own skills to heal.

I would wait for GW2 though, you're kinda late on the scene lol, or jsut ask a friend to borrow you their account to play.

Haha :D

The PvP is awesome in this game, its even an e-sport. Sure people will always complain about balance in any games, but I think its fine.

If you follow GW2Guru there's an interview where A.Net states that they want to release it for 2010,but they think 2011 is more realistic/probable.

In other words, really high chances the beta will be Q4 2010 & release will be Q1 2011.
