2D MMORPGs

I think i've tried every p2p MMORPG that has come out since like 2006. But, -NONE- of them have come close to being as fun as the old ones.

You didn't need to worry about people botting, you were preoccupied with KSing. You couldn't buy gold. GMs were actual people that played in game that you could /tell

Anyone know if people are still playing these?

My first MMORPG, Last Kingdom, and by FAR the best i've ever played:

Image

Helbreath. My second favorite RPG. I remember rerolling every other day trying to decide if I should get GS or go straight for Flamberge after the dummies.

I also remember you could hack the client and have it believe you paid for the account. It meant that the P2P game was F2P for anyone who could download a hex editor.

Another story about Helbreath: Someone told me they could hack the game and level your player to any level. I didn't believe him. He told me to relog, I did, I went up 40 levels.

Image

Prince of Qin, I remember playing Beta. Was a pretty good game:

Image

UO. First time I logged in, some maxed out person kind of ran me through everything and set me up. I was overwhelmed and had no idea what I was doing.

Image

Tibia. I remember mining a lot

T4C!

Dragon Raja - I was a lightning mage

more... I forgot their names. I remember one you had to be in RP mode 24/7. If you came out of RP you had to type inside {} otherwise the GMs would throw you into jail or you could get banned. I remember you also could run for mayor or something like that and people in game would vote for you. Also religion.. There were different temples and to join a religion you would have to pass a 1 on 1 test with a priest class player who basically acts like the temple's cleric.

This company had two games. IIRC the second game was asian themed and it was tons of fun.

I remember Prince of Qin, one of my favorite games, too bad it's gone/dead now :(
I also remember Dark Eden, before it got taken by Joymax, and before it was infested with hackers, it was also pretty fun.

lol whenever I read "2D", maplestory is the only mmo game that comes to mind. The ones listed above look pretty fun, has an age of empires 2 feel to it.

I downloaded helbreathusa 200mb. The official game is free now but has a cash stop. There's Helbreath Legion which looks pretty active. Their forum has a lot of posts from today and they have a ventrilo.

The thing I loved most about Last Kingdom was that every player knew every player. One guy was known for farming srings/samulets, as a high leveled knight (the only high leveled knight), he was the only one who could without their hits.

There was a wizard who was known for pking. You just whispered him a name and he would do your business for you.

And the best part was the PvP system. No factions, no alliances, no races. You can kill anyone at anytime and if you leave your pvp enabled, by accident, during an aoe spam... a lot of nubs will hate you and even get on their mains and come farm you.

Not to mention you drop everything on you when you die.

I went off course but my point was the small tight community. This helbreath legion looks tight and like everyone knows eachother.

http://helbreathlegion.net/

I will begin playing now.

Dragon Raja & Mu Online

I understand what you mean by "everyone knew each other". It dosn't happen anymore because the popular MMOs are so huge. In a MMO I played for almost 3 years called Knight Online, you actually had a reputation. I remember being a member of the Untouchables clan, one of the most respected clan of our server,I was a freaking legend just for being part of that clan.

Some were known as the best PKer,some were known for their awesome tanking or comboing skills. So yeah, thats one thing I miss, being able to gain a reputation within the community :(

The only 2D MMO I've played was Maple Story, which only lasted on my computer after two hours.

I wish I found out and played these MMOs back then. I often times read my guild mates in WoW talking about them. Even trade chat is spammed once in a while with references to these old games.

hurray, I got Mu to work :D
used one of those 3-hour email addresses to make an account -.-

Game is still awkward to start. apparently you gotta start it straight from the website rather than from your own computer.

If anyone wants to play w/ me, tell me.

and here are some screenies of mine, from when I played a long time ago:

oh goodie :}
my IGN: Adion, on the first server...I don't remember the name.

also a little tip: when you enter the game in Lorensia go to the upper exit and talk to the Elf guard. he'll turn you into a superpowered grinding machine
