You didn't need to worry about people botting, you were preoccupied with KSing. You couldn't buy gold. GMs were actual people that played in game that you could /tell
Anyone know if people are still playing these?
My first MMORPG, Last Kingdom, and by FAR the best i've ever played:

Helbreath. My second favorite RPG. I remember rerolling every other day trying to decide if I should get GS or go straight for Flamberge after the dummies.
I also remember you could hack the client and have it believe you paid for the account. It meant that the P2P game was F2P for anyone who could download a hex editor.
Another story about Helbreath: Someone told me they could hack the game and level your player to any level. I didn't believe him. He told me to relog, I did, I went up 40 levels.

Prince of Qin, I remember playing Beta. Was a pretty good game:

UO. First time I logged in, some maxed out person kind of ran me through everything and set me up. I was overwhelmed and had no idea what I was doing.

Tibia. I remember mining a lot

T4C!

Dragon Raja - I was a lightning mage

more... I forgot their names. I remember one you had to be in RP mode 24/7. If you came out of RP you had to type inside {} otherwise the GMs would throw you into jail or you could get banned. I remember you also could run for mayor or something like that and people in game would vote for you. Also religion.. There were different temples and to join a religion you would have to pass a 1 on 1 test with a priest class player who basically acts like the temple's cleric.
This company had two games. IIRC the second game was asian themed and it was tons of fun.
