Ps3 vs. Xbox 360

I'm getting a little time before I get my Xbox 360 which I think is good because I can think about what I REALLY want.

I was thinking about a PS3 too, and I wondered if they're good. After all, the only console I've ever played are PS1 and PS2 so it might be fun to try it again.

But then again, Xbox 360 is all the rage.

So any help/reviews?

i had both. i don't really game on them. i found the ps3 better in terms of streaming movies to my tv and what not though.

Your not gonna get any progress from this. Xbox 360 will get more votes because more people own one. Pick the one you like the exclusive games more or the one most of your friends own.

I would go for the PS3, essentially they're the same except for:
+ The PS3 doesn't break alot.
+ The PS3 has free online.

...Although I find the Xbox controller better for gameplay imo.

I can't say much about the Xbox but the PS3 has some big games coming, multiple FF games, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5. There are alot of cheap toppers out so you can easily get a collection going for just a few bucks. Games like Uncharted, Killzone 2, GTA 4, DiRT, Metal Gear Solid 4, Skate 2, Oblivion, Orange box, Assassins Creed, Fallout 3, CoD 4, Little Big Planet, Fear 2 all sell for about 20-30 bucks here, new.

I have my Slim for about 2 months now and I'm very satisfied. It's reliable, quiet, easy to watch movies and listen to music on it. It's overall a very nice console to have. And ofcourse it has free online and bluray which can be a plus not only for movies but also if you don't like switching discs in big games.

I can definately recommend it.

In the end it's your choice, look at the games you want to play and the controller you prefer.

id go for ps3
its more for the hardcore gamer
rather the 360 is for casual
free online is a huge plus
better graphic
blu ray
better streaming
i dont like the controller as much
but when youre in a game you dont randomly say " id rather have a 360 controller"

Why is it more for the hardcore gamer? Most games are on both platforms and those that aren't are well nice, but the xbox got those too O_o It's really a matter of taste, I prefer the xbox online service even though you have to pay for it. I also like the xbox exclusives more. Also the xbox doesn't have as much problems as it used to so that can't really be an argument either.

Better graphics? How can you say one console has better graphics overall? Is this a proven fact?

Better exclusives? Since when? You've got about 3 i can name off the top of my head.

And imo, the Ps3 is more for the casual gamer, with the free online network, any random can jump on and play online. Also, what 'hardcore gamer' uses a console browser and plays PS3 Home?

Well we all know that the PS3 superior processor with the gpu is far more powerful than the 360 BUT since most games are limited, any mulitplatform games will 99% alike with the 360 and ps3, but exclusive titles for the ps3 tend to look better (killzone 2 for sure!)

I have an xbox only because all my friends have an xbox. Playing multiplayer cod/nhl with people you know is better than playing multiplayer cod/nhl with people you don't, regardless of graphics or hardware quality (even though graphics are most of the time better on xbox because it's the native platform even though PS3 has better hardware, and that xbox hardware released over the past couple years is just as reliable as PS3).

If they all had PS3s, I would have a PS3.

Like I said I can't say much about the Xbox but I was just pointing out that those games are available for a few bucks for the PS3. I'm aware they are on the Xbox also but that's not the point of my post, I wasn't talking about exclusives.

Thats a rediculous thing to say, are you basing that just on this thread? I bought my PS3 for the exclusives, some of my friends have a PS3 and some have the Xbox. If we all want to play together we just play something online over the PC.

Most of the posts here are not QQing but just opinions and facts.

Plus PS3 keep talking about those big titles comming but never really live up to the 'hype". As far as I know,Infamous & Prototype was subject of discussions for maybe the first 2 weeks of it release,thats it.

TBH I would almost buy a ps3 for motorstorm/uncharted and killzone. It's the exclusives that attract people to the console, not the graphics.

And uhm...It's Xbox not xBox like iPod or something lol ^^

At the end of the day, they're both powerful gaming consoles. There are pros and cons on both sides. I went with the PS3 since I'm more comfortable and familiar with the PS. Also, most people I know own a PS3 and I've been wanting to play Metal Gear 4 for the longest time.

It really depends on which one you're more comfortable with; anywhere you go, you'll hear people boasting about the PS3's blu-ray or how "awesome" Xbox is. I know a couple Xbox 360 fanboys who keep ranting about facebook and their gaming community and netflix - I really could care less. If your first choice is Xbox, then go for it.

Also, I would imagine the Wii to be the more likely average hipster's console.

The PS3 has a high chance of living for 10 years whereas the 360 is ganna fade away in a few years. Just what I believe

IMO The PS3 is better in price whereas the 360 is better in community/online. Depends on what you want and what you do with it.

As for me PS3 just because I don't play online 24/7 to even get my 60/year worth of live if I did own a 360. I also like the PS3 remote over any other remote thats out there lol.

But seriously, i had playstations since the first one and they
never disapointed me.
The online gaming is pretty much the same for both except that one is free and one is not...

In my situations, i went for the Ps3 because i prefer playstation and
because all my friends who own consoles also have Ps3's.

Just like someone said above, playing mw2 or nhl is way more fun with
someone you know. However, in my case this is not true because I completely rape all my friends in nhl, and i have yet to play mw2 online.
