Kind of wondering whats everyones defining moment within a video game?
i personally have many, (KOTOR plot twist springs to mind). But for me it will always be the 3rd mission for Homeworld 1.
Those of you not familiar with Homeworld it was the game that changed RTS forever, introducing the first fully 3d maps in which all combat happened in real time across a filed which ran on X,Y and Z axis. The game was praised for its eye-catching, movie-like graphics engine, large battles, appropriate soundtrack, compelling storyline, and revolutionary 3D interface. It was one of the biggest games of 1999 and still stands up very well to day.
The 3rd mission has you returning to your planet after being attacked by some raiders only to find your world quiet literally on fire and only a handfull of survivers left from a population of millions. It comes from no where, you just dont expect this to happen and you never see it coming, which adds perfectly to the impact of it all. Thats when the games just smacks you in the face with an amazing score from Paul Ruskay Code: Select all
As you watch as your planet burns as you gather up the few thousands people left and leave.

My brother and I had a demo from Age of Empires Rise of Rome. There were like 3 maps to play and one was a campaign. This was the first real game we ever touched besides pinball and other shit so we didn't know wtf to do. (+ we were ~5 and 7) So anyways, we probably played that map for about a month or so, slowly progressing and slowly understanding how shit works. We cleared out the yellow camp and we went crazy, just red left now.. AND THEN OUR Farking HARDDRIVE CRASHES, NO DEMO, NO SAVE, FIRST Farking EMO MOMENT OF MY LIFE. Jesus Farking christ. I have been looking to find that demo for a long time, I need to finish it, I need to fix my childhood problems
Spoiler!
Ok so a long shot again, if anyone is familiar with Age of Empires 1, this is how it looked:
Blue base (player base) in the right corner, red has a wonder and is connected to blue territory through a shallow passing over water. Yellow is at the top and water separates them from the rest. So what campaing/demo is this?

that´s the demo from Age 1 (the normal one, not expansion) as far as my memories go you start of in the the second age and there's relics (those cute little boxes on wheels :3) in the base that you gotta obtain and bring back. in the real version of the game there seemed to be one map in the game that was very similar to this one, though it wasn't exactly the same. it might also be that map.
OT: the only truly epic moment in a game I can think of right now is...the final boss-stage in rayman 3
Spoiler!
I recommend you to shut off the sound for the first one... Code: Select all
Code: Select all
the first time that you fight this guy, you constantly have this "DIE ALREADY YOU MOTHERF*CKER!!!!" and then they slap you in the face with yet another transformation D:

I just downloaded it again, and it's not. It was on a special microsoft disk, it was a different demo version than the normal demo. I tried all the missions, it wasn't in there

OH NO WAIT! my bad, it is the last mission from the Rise of Rome DEMO. you won´t find it in the real version. I agree 100% with you btw, that level was a bitch >___<, remember how the yellow base was full of catapults and phalanx gaia units? your civilization was Carthage and you start off the game with a seafight...remember?
I didn't recognise it cus your map seems a little...not accurate? your own base was somewhat higher I think...

Defining moments:
1. Playing Oblivion with full textures/shaders 2. Playing my first MMO, Asheron's Call (and wanting more) 3. First time rezzing objects in Second Life, finding the, um, bad places 4. Building my first gaming PC and playing Unreal Tournament with 60+ FPS - man, that looked good back then. 5. Crysis eye candy

All the original R/B/Y worked, same with the mew glitch. I keep ROM's of them on my iPhone and other laptop xD. Nothing like pokemonz to make a rainy day fun. I always chose bulbasaur.

Found it
I am playing it on moderate and its Farking hard actually. Anyways, my drawing was pretty accurate if I do say so myself. I tried to use cheats but they don't work, I wanted to SS the map with all fog removed so you could see. Blue base wasn't really much higher. You do start off with a sea battle so points for that!

yeah charmander is super hard to work with since you have to face rock type then water. but after that you start to own. I almost always chose bulbasaur or squirtle though
