Knights use sword and shield, Gladiators use one handed sword. so it's on the knight side, there are 4 job classes for each class of...er...class and 1 secret for each. What you're talking about looks to be on the knight class.

None, I dont really play MMORPGS anymore, anyless, free ones. They die out eventually. I would save your money and wait for Diablo 3

But if you really want free ones, then yeah, go on a private server.

I'd say Cabal but even if you can play it from where you live, the community pretty much dwindled down to a bunch of arrogant high level douches with multiple characters; you would rarely find other real low level newbies in the game. Not much end game content too - pretty much just the Nation War, a select few party dungeons, occasional boss hunts, and the never-ending PK drama. It's a fun game and all but really not much to look forward to at higher levels; I stopped leveling at 150s since you can go toe-to-toe with 160s and even some 170s (max) at that level anyway.
Dragonica Online caught my eye since it seems pretty unique in gameplay; kind of like Maplestory in 3D, (hopefully) a better community, and a PVP system. I haven't played the game yet so I'm not sure yet but just by taking a quick browse around their website, the only criticism I can squeeze out of it is the cash shop - it needs more costumes (and hopefully some permanent ones as well).
==================
Btw, does Dragonica function as a lobby-based game like S4League/RumbleFighter or a free-roaming world like MapleStory? I'm guessing lobby but I'm still hoping it has a large free-roaming world.

What was everyone's opinion on Runes of Magic?
I know Dom played it for a while. I'm sure there have been many updates since then. Anyone still playing it?

if you dont mind grinding you can try archlord, pretty fun when i tried it, it has auto pot too, no login problems and auto loot parties.
Its like the SRO LTP but u pick up stuff instantly whenever u kill something, so u just go TAB+3,4,5 repeat. dont even need mouse.

i didn't really like the cartoony graphics, and never played WoW since im a freebie, but ppl i met ingame told me that the game was EXACTLY like WoW with some changes(like the dual class), another thing to add to the grind go lvl 10 knight then restart as lvl 1 priest
still it was mostly the graphics->gameplay that kinda turned me off, but its still a gr8 game if you like warcraft you'll love this
