Well I have the game installed in Linux under wine. When I try to run it, it crashes with the following error (last several lines):

Code: Select all

X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 56 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Serial number of failed request: 5891
  Current serial number in output stream: 5895
Locking assertion failure. Backtrace: 
...

the ... is a list of 5 different libraries in /usr/lib dealing with X and openGL. I found various bug reports online from 2005 reporting this problem in different programs. It's known bug in wine, but the version from 2005. They had a fix in CVS, which certainly made it into the final release by now...

Is anyone getting this error? Does anyone even run Jade Dynasty in Linux? SRO works just fine, and the Jade Dynasty page on winehq.org says JD works fine. So I don't know what I'm missing.

at some point I guess I could reboot to Ubuntu and try it, haven't even installed Wine yet on that box.

No time like the present. :wink:

I'm starting to think it might be a resolution thing. I'm using Crunchbang Linux from pendrivelinux.com. It's set to run at 1280x800 at 50Hz refresh rate. There doesn't seem to be a way to change it. Nvidia-settings and other GUI tools for resolution only show that resolution and no apparent way to change it. xorg.conf doesn't even list resolutions at all.

Perhaps I should try a different distro on my thumb drive.
