About Pokemon on the DS

I have both Pokemon Diamond and pokemon Platinum 'available' to play here, and I read that there are some more changes between these versions than usual, another story and more stuff.

So I was wondering; would it be worth to play Diamond first and then Platinum all over from the beginning to check out both stories?
Otherwise if the story (and scripted scenes) changes arn't too big I might as well skip Diamond and start with Platinum.

If anyone has played both diamond/pearl and platinum Id love to hear some advice. :)

The main difference is a few changes here and there in the story and that
all Pokemon are on the platinum version of the game

To tell the truth i gave up on pokemon games, they just require a lot of
your time.

Ah if it's just minor changes in the story I think I'll start on Platinum straight away then, not worth it playing trough Diamond first.

thanks :)

And yeah they do require alot of time.. but thats what I like about it :P

In my experience with Pokemon games the stories rarely relate. The only time the stories really intertwined was in Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, and Silver. After that it became: Here's some new shit, screw the old shit.

I played Pokemon Pearl. I quit it in like a month. Didn't even finish the game yet. I'm up to the Elite 4, whatever its called. Haven't touched it in a while.

Ah well it is true that the story doesn't really matter all that much, but I was thinking of new scripted scenes and maybe different area's to explore, that kinda thing :)

Anyways, I started Platinum now and I'm leaving Diamond for what it is.

Getting my first Gym badge while I type this, and ofcourse I already got myself a Psyduck.

Well, if I were you, I would just start on Platinum.

It is like, the new thing that's why, so no point in starting something old.

So go with platinum, and follow this dude called "Marriland" in youtube for his cool Platinum videos.

Platinum is bringing a ton of new changes to the table. Moves having power/accuracy changed, Pokemon getting new moves available to them... it's going to shake things up.

It'll be like trading/battling was from RBY <-> GSC now between D/P <-> Plat

Ah man you are missing out! If you liked gold then you should really look into playing red/blue /ruby/sapphire if you have the time, those really are some magnificent games even if you hate Pokemon.

Yeah the old games have nostalgia written all over it and have the most memorable charcters, pokemon and world.. but the newer games are totally worth it when you play it a bit and get into them. They still have that 'Pokemon feeling', there is just a shitload to explore, talking to people for key items, raising your pokemans and getting your bicycle.

Pokemon needs to wake up and make a good console game. However, they better not do another one of their battle games on the console, those are just the gameboy games without the walking around and mediocre graphics.

So true...just make a Wii game, but do all the things you can do in the handheld
versions of Pokemon.

Yep, or even make a mmorpg.

*goes back to the old mmorpg pokemon thread*

Is it me or is pokemon platinum a buttload harder than the other pokemon games? o.o

enemy pokemans actually spam growl to draintank your attacks and it took me over 2-3 hours of trying and farming to get past the second gymleader (grass) because I didn't have any fire or flying pokemon

Learn to switch. If all they do is growl, it'll just take time. Because when they growl, they don't attack and thus you don't take damage.

Yeah I guess, but I remember from the other pokemon games that npc trainers never really used status moves all that much (growl, tailwhip etc) but that it was more on a random basis, while now they really use the moves effectively.
