With just the original WoW you can do everything 1-60 minus the Draenei and Blood Elf starting zones, and creating characters of those races. You are not prohibited from playing with people who do have the expansion. However once you hit 60 you will be capped until you purchase, register and install the Burning Crusade.

Subscription is US$15 a month if you pay monthly. (there's bulk time deals available on the website)

If you just have WoW and not TBC or Wotlk you can play up to level 60. After that you need to buy the expansions to gain entry into the zones that will level you up past that. Month Fee is 15.00 dollars

You can buy a new wow pack (wow + burning crusade + 1 month free) for like $20 or something nowdays :)

and yeah its about 15 usd a month / 27 euro's for 2 months; definately worth it though.

game rules where changed when it came out, but they remain constant thought the game whether you have it or not, only difference is when you do get it you can make a death knight, go to northend and eventually fight the infamous Lich King

Yep, you can. You just upgrade that account from trial status to full account status. ^^

Also, try and get a friend to do Recruit a Friend with you. You get triple exp until level 60 after you have a full account.

If you're on EU realms i will help you out, boosts and shit.

Recommend NOT to use RAF for your first character, because you will not have money for skills, will have very crappy gear, your weapon levels will be behind, as will be your professions.

I wouldn't really recomment playing your first character with RaF, you will probably get _massive_ money issues unless you have a friend on the same realm that can help you out on that part.

Also you would miss out on alot of famous / fun quests, instances etc

Seeinmg you're in the US, I think one of those would be best. I think there's people form here spread out throughout Alleria and Detheroc? Not sure on others.

I personally play on the Oceanic realm Caelestrasz.

Keep an eye out on what type of realm you want to play on:

pvp servers where most leveling area's are free for all world pvp between the horde and the alliance (ganking will happen and can become highly frustrating)

pve servers where world pvp is optional (less excitement while leveling imho)

rp servers are for roleplaying and can be either pve or pvp.

Too bad Blizzard doesn't enfore RP rules and there are people with names like Dethknight or Supertank running around. Not to mention what people say in /Y and /S are out of character.

Unless you have BC registered to your account and installed to make a Draenei, so it's a good thing you're planning to buy that expansion at least =]

Plus Draenei starting area is IMHO one of the best in the game.

I'm a heathen though, I prefer the Night Elf starting area.

Though Death Knight area > all of them. =x

There is no "good guys" in WoW, only varying shades of grey.
