Haven't really played Oblivion or Morrowind before so I don't really know what to level. This whole Constellation thing seems confusing. Also is there any "classes"?
P.S: I made a Wood Elf.
Go caster, destruction/recovery ftw although you probably want to be a high elf if you actually want to do that.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Hilarious story (well for me it was)
So I'm walking down the roads in a wilderness area to go to a dark brotherhood quest, and I see this group of 3, two nobles and a bodyguard, talk to the guard and supposedly they're going to a wedding or something. So then I talk to the noble, and one of the options is "these gifts/items/whatever it was are mine now" so of course that's what I pushed. Then you hear the guy say guard come here bla bla, and then I hear the battle music, then a loud scream and roar, turn around to the guard, and he just got mauled by a HUGE LION HAHAHA, and then I get mauled right after, still the funniest thing I've ever seen in the game.

I have, it was not that hard as a mage. I did however had to turn down the difficulty for a Draug boss who kept 1 shotting me with his bow. I can kite melee bosses but if they 1shot me at range in a dark cavern and no proper strategy to avoid damage, there's not much I can do.
Also Alteration at 100, I can now tank giants with 160 health and my nifty reduces physical damage by 80% spell.

On a different note, has anyone bought a house yet ? I want to, mostly to store shit but those 1k spells aren't helping at all. Has anyone found a good way to make money besides slaying dragons ?

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
You can fear people and use other forms of cc similar to sleep and flee but I believe that is the school of illusion. What destruction has to offer in terms of affecting enemies is mostly a "shock/pushback/stun" like effect. When you dual wield a spell like say fireball and have the perks points invested in that one talent your spells will also pack that pushback, which btw is a pretty awesome defense.
Also I am lvl 11 now and if I was you I wouldn't get much higher than 300 magicka with gear, around that much seems to do the job at my level so is better to start working solely on hp from that point.

The college is more of a questline more than anything, your abilities and perks are what decide your build as far as I know so don't mind it too much and just receive all the loot you can while there.

Alright, once we finish one quest line for the college can we go back and do the other quest line as well?

If you're going for a melee character in Skyrim, don't get it. Dark Souls is an excellent game and it puts Skyrim's melee combat system into shame. But that's the only gripe I have about the game so far. That and the console-port controls ([Enter] for YES? LOLWhat).
Thank you Bethesda. I have not accomplished anything productive since Thursday night. I'd be surprised if this game didn't win Game of the Year.

You can do whatever the **** you want in this game. You can juggle the quest lines however you want. You can even just do side quests and never touch the main quest.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Yeah, as I understand you can complete the quests when you feel like it. I have chains from early game that I have yet to touch and others that I stopped midway and later came back to finish without penalty.
Btw the perk that adds the "pushback" to destruction spells is: Impact, pretty strong ( thus far ). I am sure you are aware that you can go deeper into the tree and add additional effects to specific fire, cold, or electricity spells as well ( I only intend to max fire and not getting the flee perk for it, doesn't seem beneficial ).

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Played all day.
Just learnt "Wuld" (sick) at the Greybeard place... which took me an hour to get too because the map in this game is Farking terrible.
Only thing that bothers me right now is that I think I might of screwed up my character. I always level up Stamina and Health (I don't intend to be a caster) and spend my perks on Restoration.
And here's my cutie pie
I wonder who would want to make one of those hideous Argonian or Dark Elves.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The gold command is:
player.additem F 1000
Just bought my home and can't find it, sweet. I don't intend to abuse the console but I would rather have my "storage room" now rather than in one more day, not going to use it anymore I think as everything else is great, besides I did slain a dragon for those peasants, of course I deserve a home
SUPER LEGIT TIP ALERT :
Buy the illusion spell muffle and use it on your travels, with it you can max illusion real fast and gain 2+ actual levels on a 20 minute trip, pretty insane, early on you get an illusion level every 2 casts or so.
Also I would stick with the 2 magicka and 1 hp build if I was going caster, now that I bought all the spells the cost does increase quite a bit.

There has to be a guide somewhere that explains how those astronomy lines work. Way too confusing, all I know is that I bought acquired that one Heal spell.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Think of it as talent trees for each skill title. Use perk points to have stronger spells or w/e else.
Getting 5k gold was pretty easy though, I already have my house fully decorated as well.
You buy new spells from mages, they are books that you use to learn them.
I plan on getting a dog later too.

300 magicka might seem enough now, but enemies get thougher and you'll need more and more magicka to kill them with more expensive spells.
I did 1 health every 5 levels and I quit doing that once I got 160 health. With a master in alteration, with all the perks and the Lord sign, I now only need more magicka to kill faster.
I got a spell that reduces all physical damage by 80%, an innate 55% resistance to all magic damage (+25% for shock from my boots) and a 30% chance to negate a spell completely and get some magicka from that.
@.Ex
The astronomy lines are easy to understand. Once you use enough skills, you'll gain a level. You can add a single point in either health, stamina or magicka depending on your needs and you get a single perk point.
That point, you can invest in a certain tree to make that skill better. So if you're character wears light armour, uses 2 blades and likes to enchant his own gear while brewing potions, you could choose to invest points in those trees so you're even better at it.
Personally, I focussed on 3 skills first for my perks: destruction, alteration and restoration and later I started adding points into enchanting. In a few levels time, I'll have all the perks I want in those 4 skills so I can start focussing on another tree. You could start with 5 skills to focus on from the beginning so it's somewhat of a choice. Do I want to enhance the 5 skills at the same time but at a lower pace or do I want to do 3-4 and get them powerful first?

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
This might be helpful. I've been looking for a perk reset command but there doesn't seem to be any. I didn't want to restart a new character so I had to settle with removing and adding individual perks:
NOTE: Don't add the parentheses
You can find out the perk ID by typing:
NOTE: Make sure you have the quotations
For example, if you want to know the perk ID for Power Bash, type:
The console will then show the perk ID, in this case, 00058F67. If you want to add or remove the perk respectively, just type:
Keep in mind that if you just want to move around the perk points, make sure you remember how many you should have at that level. The console command makes it possible to have all the perks if that's what you want or what you're trying to avoid.
Code: Select all
player.addperk (Perk ID)
player.removeperk (Perk ID)NOTE: Don't add the parentheses
You can find out the perk ID by typing:
Code: Select all
help "Perk Name" 4NOTE: Make sure you have the quotations
For example, if you want to know the perk ID for Power Bash, type:
Code: Select all
help "Power Bash" 4The console will then show the perk ID, in this case, 00058F67. If you want to add or remove the perk respectively, just type:

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'm hooked on this game. I've been playing it all day, I keep loosing track of time. I really should be studying and I've closed the game now, so heck, I'll study..
Um this game is so much fun. I'm not sure if I am enjoying it more than I enjoyed the last game. My current character is a Breton mage who specialises in conjuration, destruction, restoration and one handed. The bound sword is so sexy...
Oh yeah, I'm also a Farking thane.
I only wish I had money to get a better rig.
I feel like I'm not doing justice to the game by playing on a 2 year old laptop.
