For crates you need to buy keys to get whats inside them, you might get lucky and find an unusal hat which sells for 50+$.


But items randomly drop, their drop rate is like 8 per week or something. Drop cap resets wednesday/thursday.

Basically the average player buying a key = lolwat. Though what you could do if you plan on 'owning' TF2 is buy a couple keys and trade them for hats or refined.

I'm guessing you got a MannCo crate? If so, you have to buy a key to open that, otherwise you can trade it for a weapon you don't have. Otherwise, most of the time, you'll get items normally instead of crates. From time to time you'll see it say "Xxxxxx got (item)!" You'll get a little popup of a sort when you get an item too.

Hoard mode, not really. Flavor runs out pretty quickly like every hoard mode.
