Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
this game should not be called dragon age.
The graphics are on par with the wii.
Sure, it is a fun game, but I wanted DRAGON AGE 2, not this crap.

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
Graphics didn't look that bad... played the 3 clases, as male, so far I liked rouge and warrior the most
For some reason being a mage doesn't catch my attention, the strongest and main character (me, myself) is bound to weild a sword, or some kind of sharp, cutting object
Dunno what class to start out as... cant decide if rouge is cooler and more fun than warrior or not

Just played the demo as a warrior and it's effing insane. It's just like they said, you push a button and something awesome happens. Everything is just so fast paced and responsive. You can move around the battlefield so quic--- oh sorry I just came.

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
I played the demo and it was amazing. The combat seemed to be much more fluid and faster in general. I hope this doesn't take away from the tactical nature that the first game had. Also, archers don't appear to suck this time so that's always great for me. I just hope it has a big world with many RPG elements. It's reminding me of Mass Effect 2 in a bad way in that it overall seems to play like an action game with RPG elements rather than a RPG with action game elements. However, I definitely will be buying this.

I just hope the story device that this game uses
works...if it doesnt then its going to fail big time

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
I played it at a friend for the first time, it was alright but it was a shitty tv so I could hardly read shit that was on the screen. I'll play it again later this week on my own tv and hopefully it'll make more sense.

I really hate that they changed the conversation from the usual DA style to ME style.

ya, i heard its more "consoley" and a hell of a lot less RPG based then the last game.
Makes me sad and also slightly angry then Bioware have sold out (catering to console/casual gamers).
Remember when they used to make games like Icewind Dale and Baldurs Gate 2?
Hell even KOTOR2 was a commercail failure, but at least it showed that Bioware
knew how to make a good RPG.

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
Not really seeing how it's the fault of console gamers... Well maybe it is but certainly not me o.o I loved the way it was in DA:O, gameplay atleast, I like this way to chat better.

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
Easy? I found the game to be fairly challenging, almost frustrating on some parts. Maybe that's because I'm playing through on Hard, I dunno. I have to use tactics and take control of my teammates during most encounters to survive.
There was one boss fight where I was forced to put the game back on normal. Minor spoilers.
Be sure to explore and do all secondary quests as some of them have great rewards and I think you can only get some of the companions from the secondary quests. I found a bow from one secondary quest at level 6 or so that lasted me all the way to level 12.
There is also a secret shop to be found. I'm assuming its secret because I haven't done any quests that have sent me there. To get there:
Here are a few items that he sells.

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
My opinion on the game: First off, I'm not one of the retarded "OMG THE GAME HAS TO BE SOOOOO HARD THAT NONE OF THE CASUAL CROWD COULD POSSIBLY EVER BEAT IT" people, so I'm not going to comment on the Nightmare difficulty stuff except for reasons why I wont ever play it at that difficulty.
Story line is great so far, I'm really enjoying it, I do miss the branching story lines from Origins however, how you could be dwarf/human/elf.
Dungeon similarity is bad. Bioware was extremely lazy on dungeon designs, I've had 4 or 5 quests in different cave areas, yet each cave is in basically the same thing, with a passage or two blocked off in order to make it look "different." Was happy when the ruins beneath the Harrimann estate seemed different (from dlc quest) then I came to a spot where I thought it looked the same as the cave as mentioned just above, and I realized, it was the same, they just changed the walls and paths to look like ruins instead of a regular cave. Inexcusable laziness from Bioware. (May have the wrong quest that looked different at first, but I do know there was a quest that looked like a different area, before I got to a room that had rubble blocking sunlight streaming in, and I noticed the differences from there on out).
Lack of an actual healer class... Really, 50 (I think) second cooldown on the healing spell, with a large cooldown for the hp potions as well? This is why I wont play on Nightmare, even on casual some of the battles take a long time, and I don't want to have to have a certain party setup to complete the game. I realize Anders has his special class thing that has some healing stuff, but I fucking hate Anders for some reason. I don't know what it is, but that guy annoys the hell out of me.
Flemeth redesigned? It's been a while since I played the first Dragon's Age, but didn't Flemeth look different in that one? I really like her new look though, so it makes up for the character redesign. In general I don't like it when characters are changed from one game to the next (or new actor for people in movies falls under this.)
Graphics are great, but for some reason, a few areas cause a massive framerate slowdown, primarily when in cutscenes and flames are in the background. Going to change to Dx9 and see if that fixes it.
Clicking on enemies: R is your friend, unless you want to click on something else, otherwise pause it in 99% of the cases... When I first started out, I started to rage at needing to pause the game just to click an enemy. I don't know what they did wrong, but some click detection on some enemies just doesn't seem to work well. Later on, by accident, I found out that clicking the "r" key, selects the nearest enemy, or when there's no enemies, it picks up the nearest loot. An excellent shortcut that I use all the time now.
And now screenshots I've taken so far! To come later, too big for imageshack, forum doesn't allow .bmp

Yea I really hate how similar the dungeons are. However, I'm really enjoying how fleshed out the secondary quests are.
Spoiler!

Re: The Dragon Age 2 Thread
It was all the same in ME1 too but it was different in ME2. Guess they went back to it in DA2 haha >.< I don't have the full game yet, don't know when I'll get it either. Next holiday perhaps.
