I wouldn't mind paying Aion's monthly fee, but having to buy the game and the monthly fee is too much for me unless I know I'm gonna be hardcore playing. Also the exp rate is REALLY slow @_X
I have to say I was hoping Aion would be more like L2, it feels more like PW (icky).
Definitely looking forward to Aion private servers in the future.

i think the problem with private servers, at least the one's i've experienced, are that they are good for the first few months, then they go down hill, as the official servers get additional updates/fixes, new contents and such, the private servers inevitably fall behind and end up with a sub-par game.

Sometimes, especially with high rates. I still loved being Kamael in L2 even though almost none of their skills worked in private servers lol But yes, the waiting for the new content, and even now I'm STILL waiting for someone to complete Hellbound, is a bitch.
piootr wrote:Wait wait wait, you're saying you want it to be more like L2. Yet you think aion has too much grind?
I would have like it to be more like L2 scenery and gameplay wise, though I didn't play too much of Aion it felt more like PW in general then the looks and feel of L2. Aion seems like a great game from what I've played, don't get me wrong.
It's not always the case, sure most private servers are behind in getting updates, but sometimes they get them pretty quickly. and i'm sure if you choose to play a private server you wont mind that much.
I guess that applies to the Luna private server. They have updates and alot of stuff the official doesn't have yet. Same with ROSE private servers. AruaROSE has it's own GM made maps, items. Even some L2 servers had items that weren't officially released yet now that I remember.

i dunno, the NCSoft team says they'll take care of the bots, but for the private servers, u really won't know how the devs will react to them.
*psst, play official servers /psst*
It really does seem like NCSoft is taking Aion very serious considering they straight out told GameGuard if they don't get their shit together they're dropping them before the game actually opens.

nice find but dont expect any decent releases for at least 6 months, try retail til then.

The current private servers are a flop right now. There's no mobs, it's just an emulator so far.
Even when they do come up, they'll still suck. Private servers are gonna be filled with the same type of people who play sro. The ones who want everything for free. Just pay for the game if you want to play, don't be a cheap nub.
And yes, NCsoft has their shit together on this one. They've got extremely high expectations for the game. Especially considering in asia they've got a few million subscribers already.
@Sacchin, the exp rate is NOT slow. That's what all the WoWfags complain about. You can cap in like a month or so just casually questing.
Anyways, people that play private servers on a GOOD game with a GOOD company deserve to be shot. If they keep their shit together, keep the game bot free, etc, then they DESERVE the money they get. Not every company is like Joymax.

I don't know how far you've played, but no. At patch 1.0 quests utterly die at 23+. It's nothing but grind grind and more grind. I hope 1.5 will change that but we have to wait to see. A month isn't near to enough time to cap at this point.

P.S I played Aion before WoW.
1.5 gives you quests all the way up to lv 50. If I remember it was 1,300 quests added in. AFIK The estimated time to cap with questing is like 150~250hours depending on how much you quest and mess around. Open beta/release WILL have 1.5. Also don't forget if you pre-ordered it you get an exp increase for an hour recharges after 9hours(Now it isn't known that it's reusable.. but I hope it is then again I dont plan on playing 11hours lol) Compared to WoW it's like 100hours if you know what you're doing, right?
I fail to see how it is a grind fest by looking at other games where you need over nine thousand hours to cap out.

We don't know how 1.5 will be. That I need to see for myself. But at this point the game is a grind fest. Period. I still like the game, and would play the English release even if it stayed at 1.0. But don't hype 1.5 up if you haven't even seen it yet.
1.5 has over 1k quests added in I KNOW that for a fact. At this point the release version of the game is a grind fest, but it's being released with 1.5 like I said and 1.5 adds in many many many quests to continue on easy leveling. I don't need to see 1.5 if I know it has 1000+ quests, because those quests are my ticket to easy leveling.
Don't ask me why they were doing beta with 1.0 when the game is being released with 1.5, but their choice on it I suppose.

More grinding then I feel like doing. It's personal preference. If I don't feel like hard core grinding I wait for a private server or just don't play.
Wasn't 0x33 working on an Aion bot? As for being shot, well you could say the same for people who pirate music, don't you think?

So wait, if ppl like parts of the game but now how its run, just too bad for them? If they arent gonna play the official either way they should be shot for playing a custom server ? lol It's not like your getting effected by the private server are you?

That was NCWest said. They're most likely just saying some stuff to keep the community happy. Knowing NCSoft, they probably have a lifetime contract with Gameguard or something. They'll just lie and say it has been improved at release time.

Personally, I don't consider requiring that little bit of time to reach cap to be a grindfest.
I don't believe 1.5 is going to change much of anything. Yea they're are more quests, but you'll probably be grinding out 60% or more of the exp required to level instead of close to 100% like before.
L2Extreme was the best private server I played. They weren't update to date with the official servers but it was still alot of fun. I think it was said that they had about 50k active players.

It is real, after the beta for the official I went on to Enzura Aion, you can run around and do a bunch of stuff I guess, but you can't atk yet, not really any point unless you just wanna go looking around the game ;d.

I'm having more fun in Dragonica D: Of course I was recovering from surgery and in alot of pain when I was trying Aion. Was hard to play at the time and I really don't remember much about it lol xD

As long as they have an active staying running around that's good enough with me. By that I mean them talking to users and banning bots. If not then /ragequit.

heard some russian server has some spells running already
