I had to accept a fairly strict NDA and i am going to respect their wishes on that one.
Besides of that i am afraid that it won't run on high anyway and therefore the graphics won't be the complete jerkfest.

Only 10% left to download :)

What is this!?

I want an Alpha invite :(

Did you pre-order or anything, or was it completely by chance?

I didn't preorder anything, and am not even sure if i buy it at all because EA are giant twats and don't deserve my money under any circumstances with their current policy.
Anyway, i actually did nothing at all, i just got an e-mail with the invitation.

Had quite some fun until now ,didn't hit shit but had fun, haven't tested full graphical quality yet but on "auto" it looks really nice and runs fluid.
And oh my freacking god the sound is absolutely stellar , first a really hollow "pop" when the rocket left the barrel directly followed by the screaming rocket noise when firing an RPG.
This game probably creates the most satisfying feeling i've ever had when firing a gun in a game, absolutely fantastic.

I seen the gameplay for the Alpha and I wasn't too impressed. Games look like nearly different games altogether with retail release after an alpha

I jelly that you got accepted. Though I wonder why they decided to make a tight map as their show off and Alpha test.

Edit: What's your veteran status at? I'm at 3 just sitting, praying, and hoping that I get accepted. Would have been 4/5 if I didn't forget my old account. /sadface

I heard you 'need' the higher the veteran status the better chances you are off getting in. You should have Battlefield 3 and EA subscribed.

As with BC2 beta it was different. And I hear you cannot put your settings on max in BF3.

Key-J wrote:I'm even considering pre-ordering

I know I am, but I won't bother on pre-ordering til I hear what retail stores if they're offering 'bonus' pre-order DLC.

I have subscribed to a newsletter about BF3 some time ago, so yes
My veteran status is 7
and not preordered anywhere

Ok i tested the graphic options, i can run it on high with a little bit of FPS hiccups. Not sure if that is the maximum of graphical fidelity though because the options are massively cut for alpha.
My specs for reference:
4GB Ram
AMD Athlon dual core 6000+ (2x 3GHZ)
Radeon HD 6850 1GB DDR5

Direct from the Battlefield Twitter feed:
The Alpha is a closed test and by invitation only. If you'd like to have a chance to be called upon make sure to register for our newsletter at http://www.battlefield.com

Just in-case some of you want a chance at the Alpha...

Just go to youtube, there are gameplay videos all over the place.

I certainly won't break the NDA which is still active because i just generally think it is disrespectful to the developer.

Alpha closes august first.

It's an alpha build, some parts are toned down, it still got many bugs and imbalanced elements.
I don't want to rate a game which still is months from release, because yet again it doesn't do justice to the developers. But it certainly felt like really good mix between BC2 and BF, skills pretty much carry over you've figured everything out. And from what i've seen so far i can tell it is on a good way to become one of the best multiplayer FPS i've played so far.

I was meaning rate it on it's Alpha Performance.

That's actually what i try to avoid to do. Because it is an alpha build which is nowhere near perfection, with bugs and imbalances scattered all over the place.
It definately is fun, but you get torn out of the experience every now and again if something doesn't work the way it is meant to work.
I'd imagine the final product based on what i saw somwhere around 9,5/10 , that's all i am willing to say.

As one of our valued and trusted Battlefield players, we are happy to invite you to participate in the Battlefield 3 Alpha Trial. All the instructions you need to join are printed below.

We are inviting you specifically because we think you have a great interest in the Battlefield series, and because we think you understand the technical issues that might arise this early in a game's development cycle.

I got an alpha invite... Let's just get some things clear

1. I had an EA Games account
2. The only game I own made by EA is the sims 2. I do not own any other BF game.
3. I had the invite sat in my inbox when I got home from work
4. I probably won't use it. :sohappy:
