Definitely waaaaaaay late. The hype is all gone D:
People have forgotten it even exists and the game's starting to show its age too.

But I'll play it anyway.
I remember being hyped as f*ck about it when it was first announced. Can't exactly just let it go after so much interest. I'll have to give it a try at least
That freedom of movement with the gliding and wallrunning and whatnot is still freakin cool

I'll probably go with a Gon Kung Fu Master

I just hope the long wait was worth it and they did a hell of a job with the localization...

Anybody watched the twitch stream today?

They showed off a lot of the basic functionalities of the game like gliding, waterwalking and combat.

Combat works kind of reactively, similar to fighter games. You're basically just doing combos.
When you do A attack, X,Y,Z open up as a selection option for a brief period of time, which allows you to follow up your attacks.

It all looks pretty neat. The game is doing a lot of things right!

Armors are separate from clothes, so you can look however you want without losing stats.
SRO-like PVP with the capes, instead of arena's

A very well-designed death system:
Upon death you can teleport to town as usual, or you can try and crawl your way out of the area to safety real slowly and meditate for a minute to resurrect yourself.

i played the game on a russian server, this trailer is so bad in so many ways.

The game is good, UI is nice and the way you can access quests etc is also cool, also as u can see pvp and all these things are nice.

the problem with the russian server is that you had to get a translated version and the translation was so bad i hated it, + as someone who doesnt understand russian, i didnt know anyone xD.

My god this is horrendously late....And to make matters worse it's not the first time we've heard that its coming to the west... "Coming this winter" doesn't cut it as most players like myself have lost hope over the years....

If it does come however all will play it...but.....If it falls short in terms of good content/questing/story-line people are going to drop it fast because they were already fed up and disappointed in waiting this long....It's a big risk for the company that's bringing it here....

Something must be wrong with that person/people twitch streaming the game... This is what you can expect with a good enough machine...watch on high settings to be even more amazed...Level 45 Assassin solo questing...looks real nice...Them skillz off da hook...I still hate the developers though for waving this carrot in front of us for years...

The game is not graphically outdated at all, to be fair it looks good and if the content is good enough it will be enough to play the game, its just that we had to wait 300 ages for this.

you can buy the "founder's packs" now and ull get early access and other benefits, im not buying it so i dont know much but i heard from someone who bought the pack that the game will be available in october.

Good chance that I will play it. I will give my first impressions here when I do. From what I've seen online in videos it looks awesome with epic skill animations. Character modeling is awesome and costumes and gear are well designed. Its definitely an eye candy for sure. Lets just see if if hold up in other areas...

So the first closed Beta weekend of Blade and Soul finished yesterday and I have to say I was impressed... I have grown quite skeptical about MMORPG's over the last couple of years but this title has indeed gripped my interest...The game was enjoyable, entertaining, and stunning with it's combat system, graphics, skill animation, PVP (especially PVP), etc...

While it does have those formulaic features found in all MMOs, it does portray them in a stylized and exciting way. I have went ahead offered my own personal ratings (below) based on some of the criteria normally used to judge these types of games...These ratings are of-course subjected to change over time as it's just a first impression based on a weekend of play....

Blade and Soul first impression assessment:

Combat System: 9/10 (Very well put together combat system the caters to the PVP minded)

Skill animation: 9.5/10 (The best I have ever seen in any MMO if you're into martial arts type combat)

Graphics/Visual effects: 9.5/10 (For a game that is a few years old I am very impressed here)

Story Line: 7.5/10 (Has a good story line but not anything that hasn't been told before. "Betrayal and Revenge")

Questing: 6.5/10 (Very helpful quests but nothing intriguing. But I do tend to dislike quests)

Weapons Design: 9/10 (Really nice weapons that levels with you throughout the game.)

Costume/Armor Design: 9/10 (Best I've seen and allows for uniqueness since armor is only for looks not defense stats in this game.)

User Interface: 6.5/10 (On par with the latest games now out. Nothing overly unique)

Community: 9/10 (Extremely vibrant and helpful. An attribute of Beta I suppose)

Character customization: 9/10 (Lots of feature/options for your character to look unique)

PVP: 9.7/10 (This is where the game shines the most. It screams PVP and does a great job at it)

PVE: 7.5/10 (Lots of dungeon partying and questing but not much benefit for solo-exploration)

Crafting: 7.5/10 (Crafting is on par with most games but nothing hardcore the like the sand-box types of MMO)

OVERALL RATING: 8.4/10

I can definitely see myself playing this game for a while. There are about 4 more weekends of Beta testing left before full launch and I intend to be there every step. The game does have a cash shop but I don't think it will help you win any duels as I think PVP mode (or some PVP modes. Need to verify) strip your stats down and make you and your opponent on equal footing....

They have a interesting way to handle the potential for bots that farm and sell gold that I feel compelled to mention here. Players can buy gold in game from other players using NC coins purchased in the cash shop. The casual player who don't have the time but have the money can buy NC coins which can be used to purchase gold from the player who can't afford to spend real money on NC coins. This method is a win for both parties and deters the potential for mass gold selling bots seeking a real cash earning opportunity...(Something that could have kept SRO servers full of real players instead of tons of gold bots)

I think this game has a good future. Closed Beta had tons of players and it caused wait times on one of the servers. I can just imagine all the other folks who did not get a Beta key waiting to play. I found the gaming experience to be really entertaining. Below is a video I found highlighting the PVP of my favorite class. This gives a glimpse of what the PVP is like. Highly stylized and epic....

It's crazy...Yesterday was the head start release date for premium players and the server traffic was (and still is today) crazy...All server queues are packed...2-6 hours wait time with the wait time always increasing...2000+ people ahead of me....I can't imagine what it will look like on the official release date (next week) when all the non-premium players show up to play...

The situation has now started to stabilize. They initiated a solution that gives players the ability to transfer their characters between servers... This move has created a balancing effect across all the servers in terms of traffic and has notably reduced wait times in the queues... They have also temporarily locked down some servers baring new players from it to preserve the gaming experience for those already on... A good move on their part...
