Tiberium Wars/Kane's Wrath vs Red Alert 3

Post by Morgoth »

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying one of these 2 command and conquer games but have not decided on one yet.
I've been doing some research for both and this is what it seems people are saying about each game:

TW/KW

-better graphics (if you don't like cartoonish graphics)
-better storymode/campaign
-dead online community (not completely sure on this one)
-not much "strategy" involved, more of a spam units kind of game (but then again, isn't that what most rts games are about?)

Red Alert 3

-"cartoonish" graphics (not sure if its a pro or com, i guess it depends on the person)
-much more balanced units in online gameplay
-more lively online community
-not as good story
-requires more "strategy" than TW/KW (don't know if this is true since i've never played either of them)

*note: i'm disregarding the whole issue about its DRM protection with secuRom since if i do get it it will probably be through steam (which removed secuRom)

So there's the basic gist of it. What are your opnions on it? Which one did you enjoy more?

I think the RA story is better really. I love C&C, mostly only played RA ones though, but I played Kanes Wrath, I found it kinda boring after I beat it once.

RA3 is Still fun to me though, and Uprising expansion challenge mode rocks. I didn't like the toonish graphics too much at first, but they are pretty good lol.

I want moar RA, there wasnt enough campaign missions(for me) >:E lol.

Couldn't say, I don't play it online, I just play the missions and challenges and skirmish now and then.

I have all 3 of them, but I just got done playing some RA3 online just a sec ago. I prefer TBW a lot more than RA3 because it completely! I mean COMPLETELY ruined RA2, but its alright, but then at the same time it doesnt have a C&C feel. TBW is good except for Avatars (Nod's Bipedal Unit), the graphics are good and sticks close to my beloved Tiberian Sun. MP is excellent in both games XD so yah don't worry about that but I think TBW&KW is the winner, of course only IMO

KW is trash, TW is the way to go if you have friends to play it with cause RTS is all about multiplayer. (story's kinda good... I guess)

I have all of those games and I prefer Tiberium wars because the single player is much better. I don't play the online mode because I really suck. Something you forgot to mention is that Red Alert 3 is a much faster paced game.

Another question,

I know they are completely different types of games but if given a choice, would you rather buy red alert 3 or heroes of newerth?
