F2P Runes Of Magic
F2P Runes Of Magic
now this i gotta say is probably one of my favs, it just opened and OB recently, max level is 50. ATM im at lvl 31 and the leveling is done by doing quests really. Its really enjoyable and looks good.
From what lots of people said, its a free version of WOW. Personally, i neva got into wow and usually advoided talkin about that game, but this game, Runes of magic is really good, and on the mmorpg poll was ranked numba 2 for the F2P games.
They got a PvP server (which i picked naturally) and their pk system and everything is actually pretty good (unlike sro's). and from what i learned so far, the game is pretty good with balance. i highly suggest you give it a shot.

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
the website is bland and the name is horrible but when looking at videos it most certainly does look like WoW

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
lol i totally agree with the name bein crap. 'runes of magic' couldnt have a worse name.
anotha note, in the post viewtopic.php?f=76&t=104097&hilit=runes+of+magic you see the guy talk about the general details, and say things like "mini bosses aren't soloable' and etc, but rememba there's always the exception, im a mage (who isnt suppose to be able to solo anything) and i can solo the mini bosses.
and i'd like to also say that i've been playing silkroad ever since it was closed beta (only xian and aege were the 2 servers at the time). im one of them oldschool players that if i leave for 3 months at a time, i'd eventually come bak. but this game is somethin i've always wanted in games.
and lastly, the one thing that tons of mmorpg's lack is the community. what i mean by that is, in silkroad, if you got an enemy, they'll let you know they your enemy. and you can make friends pretty easily too. people talk alot as well, and its rather fun. and since, in the pvp server, their pk system is well done, you nearly get into fights everyday.

That's because you're level 31. The mini bosses you're talking about aren't like the mini raid bosses that aren't soloable end game.
Once you hit around 34 you start having to grind because you run out of quests, and once you get to about 37 and have to enter that tower in ystra, you will need a party.

^^
Pretty much.
After I got to 39/25 on my Warrior/Knight I thought to myself "why not just use this time playing WoW"...and that's what I did. True story.
I might go back someday though because the game was certainly worth the DL, especially for a F2P.

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
Game was fun. As for me, I didn't run out of quests even when I was lvl40.
Though, I mainly quit because of school. Another thing that make me quit is the amount of exploits that were there when I was playing.

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
The "no pk" part ruins it for me. But I heard it has something that allows the person you pked to know your exact location until he/she kills you.

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
It was fun but the point you have to level two classes to level 50 means you reach cap is gay.

Lol one of the main features that I like about Cabal is the pk-anywhere (except in "safe zones" such as towns and non-pk channels). I sure as hell like it a lot better than endless shit-talking in shout. Just a matter of preference I guess -- and I gained a lot of in-game money from PKing =D

Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
That game looks really interesting, gonna DL it right nao!
Re: F2P Runes Of Magic
There are pk servers where you can pk anyone at anytime, anywhere (even in town). They got their reputation rules tho for the pk servers alone. If you kill people you lose rep, and if you kill too much you gain a 'red' status, which means anyone can attack you at any time, and even town guards will attack you. But aint it realistic that someone would go stealth past the guards, and kill someone in town and leave?
Some people tend to abuse it and become infamous for that reason too. For example, they will kill you and wait for you at res point to kill you again. And thats where the 'blue' reputation comes into play.
Killing red players gives you reputation. When someone keeps gettin killed, they'll let their zone know, and any PKKers (thats wut i call em ^.^) in the area are guna come. The different color reps give different bonuses and etc.
And like WoW, they do have some addons in the game, like the spy addon which allows you to find anyone anywhere at anytime. The GMs stated in the forums that they guna discuss to see whether or not thats guna be illegal, but for now players are allowed to use it.
