I saw a topic about vortex using zoomhack...
Just so u all know that Softmod has zoomhack too and there is no way that u can c that someone bots by looking on the screen only when someone use Softmod..
When i was on Zeus alot off ppl used Softmod and they say that and i knew alot of them..
The screen is the same as someone that is legit..
Only a few bot programs shows some kind of a sign if u bot on the screen..
So everyone that has zoomhack can also use softmod cuz its a part of softmod bot..

Iam not saying that i belive that vortex bots..

Zoomhack is an illegal hack/3rd party program which is against Joymax's ToS, and most client which have zoomhacks in are generally also able to double as bot clients.

If Joymax wanted you to have a long zoom, they would have implemented it in the first place.

Exactly. Zoomhack != bot, but it is still 'illegal hack/3rd party software'.

I saw another thread somewhere where they were talking about running a script that drops 1 gold on the ground over and over and over faster than a human could do it. People would use it to trap gold bots. I'd say this script should be illegal, and bannable, as well. It's not the intended purpose of the modification that matters. It's the fact that the client is altered, or 3rd party software is used to modify how the client acts, that matters.

Why argue semantics? Both are illegal in this game. Illegal bot software, illegal third party software, illegal client modifications.

I think the point the thread starter is making, is that zoomhack can be found Softmod, therefore if a SS has zoomhack in, its equally likly to be a botter using softmod, as it is to be a loader.

also most loaders have zoomhack and most loaders arent compatible with bots.

thats what i heard from dutch_botters guild in Olympus so most of them have softmod.. >_>

But some people use No-DC clients to login easier, not too bot, these might have a zoom feature.

In my opinion these players are not as bad as botters.

i got banned for a week from srf for saying NoDC Client Ftw... >_>

i dont use one cuz i dont need one PREMIUM for the real win ^^

well if its a recent ss then its more likly to be softmod because none of the loaders with zoomhack in them work anymore sence the update last tuesday.

Its true and we know that zoomhack *usually* comes with bot or other multi-client stuff.

However we can't assume vortex bots from his video. That video only tells us that he does use 3rd part software, he probably has modded client and it probably came with a bot, but at this point we can't be sure.

Anyway he's gone for another 15 days or so, if he really bots we'll probably get the news somehow =)

Loader is still a 3rd party program.
3rd party programs are against the rules.

yea and according to joymax's TOS, pk2 editing is also illegal, but its allowed here at srf. If you say pk2 editing doesn't affect other people or the game, nor does zoomhack...

Hmmm, seems a fair point.

But you don;t get banned for using zoomhack you get banned for using the actual loader, but in essence that doesn't really affect anyone either...

Only Pk2 allowed here is stuff that only affects you. (aka changing how degrees look to you) Pk2 editing that affects others (see: invisibility/stealth hack) is not allowed here.

Further more, zoomhack DOES affect people, as it increase how far you can see and allows you to select people you wouldn't be able to.

I will say it again. If Joymax wanted you to have a longer zoom, it would be in the game to begin with.

Ummmmmm, Zoom hack doesn't do that. I used the Testosterone loader once before i found out that its bann-able on SRF and SRO and the zoom hack has no effect on how far you can see other players. It zooms you out yes but you cant see anything except the scenery in the field of the zoom. And further more, you cannot select anyone past the normal field of sight. It doesn't change the area of Players/NPCs u can see it only shows the scenery. I see no reason for it to be banned.

Also... This can be achieved with a pk2 edit im sure. And pk2 editing is allowed on SRF.. so i don't see why this shouldn't As long as no one uses it for the Multi-client, or for botting purposes.

Also, 1 question. Are No-DC clients allowed? Im a bit fuzzy on that subject in the SRF rules. It does modify the way SRO acts but it has no effect on other players, like changing the way ur char looks to u... Is it allowed?

I will put emphasis on the fact that i only used it ONCE. I don't use it now seeing that its against the rules.

+1 I totaly aggree. There is no reason to pay Joymax money that they don't deserve for a premium when u could just try 6 or 7 times with a NODC client and get in.
