If "Joe" was banned there would not be a "LOL" topic. If "Joe" were banned half of you wouldn't care and the ones that do care are probably other "Joes." Vandango isn't a Joe, he was a Mod, a figure head, a symbol, and he did a splendid job. It was a slow and steady devolution done a slippery slope. It all culminated today when He banned himself then MSNed SG with a picture of his bot and multi-clent. Vandango did his job well, ended it on a bad note, but ended it with dignity. YES, I said it: DIGNITY. He did not hide it, he did not lie, and he did not try to weasel himself out of the situation. For that he earns my respect but his actions in game will not be easily forgiven.

The reason this topic and the other were made is because of the way Vandango acted on the forums. For a long time he acted legit on the forums, whether or not he was I dont know, but to see someone go from hardcore legit to botter is a big change.

It was a process that took nearly 9 months. From Hardcore Legit, to neutral, then bot support, and finally (today) botting. Vandango really struggled to stay legit and the only reason he did it was because of SRF. He has had many weak moments but he could not hold the floodgates back any longer. This time they collapsed.

He actually posted in the EL that the only thing that was keeping him from botting was SRF. The more I think about it the more I feel like I saw this coming.

Someone's inferring to much. That post was about Vandango and Vandango alone, some people are weak. For him SRF was a crutch that kept him walking in the right direction. I'm going to catch my self here before I go into a philosophy/psychology spin-off. Some people are strong enough, others are not. The Human mind is a fragile thing. It was not instantaneous. It was not impulse, this is not a case of nature, but a case of nurture. Oh there I go. Well, it was really a mix. When the line becomes blurred it is easy to loose sight.

For me the line is strong and steady:
Legit|Illegitimate.
For some there is no Line.
And for others the line becomes a blurry mess. When that happens the line is gradually erased.

On a final note, @NB: We have a sense of right and wrong, but in a world where murder is the norm, those who do not kill are viewed as wrongful and weak, and overall just viewed negatively. In SRO, botting is the equivalent of murdering in the previously mentioned world. Botting is normal, and not botting is considerend strange (though not weak, it is indeed viewed as weird nowadays).

By definition, normal is what the majority of people do, which is why you can never say "my family is strange, and I am normal", you can only really say "my family has made some choices I would not have made".
