This guide is made to help people who have a bugged character

Bugged character = dc upon logging in (??? error or windows giving error upon logging in)

*** ATTENTION ***
a/ This guide does NOT WORK on characters how are stuck at the hotan guild storage

b/ Nor does it work for chars who got under the map

c/ Lately Hotan in Eldorado is buggy -> So before trying this, wait an hour or so.

Yesthirday my union was making trade and 3 of the hunters DC-ed and 3 hours later they still couldn't login.....

1/ DO NOT PANIC!!!

2/ Check if your character is really bugged
-> If u got ??? error and log in immediately again, there is a high chance of getting ??? error again upon logging in. So REBOOT COMPUTER
-> still error?
a/ Check WITH ANOTHER CHARACTER, if that one does not crash -> only 1 char bugged
b/ If the other(all) char(s) crashes too -> reinstall sro; ur client is bugged

So 1 char is bugged... -> choose option 1 or 2 and follow the steps

OPTION 1:
3/ Logging in the bugged char:
a/ If u have premium, not a problem
b/ If u don't have premium; Do not waste time trying to log in; WAIT for POPULATED servers (people from Babel are pretty screwed)

4/ Log in -> select char -> start
-> U only have about 1 second (or less) to look at ur char -> WATCH WHICH WAY IT IS LOOKING & KNOW EXACTLY WHERE U NEED TO WALK TO!
If u didn't see it, keep logging in until u know.

5/ Now comes the hard part; getting away from the spot.
a/ u know how/where the char is standing
b/ prepare for some fast clicking / ramming buttons
-> log in -> select char -> start
-> When the loading screen starts immediately start clicking on the spot u want the character to go to. If ur character is facing the right way, press ur UP key TOO.
It's no use pressing the key if ur char is facing a wall and u press forwards (read /4)

6/ How many times?
a/ Your character will not be unbugged in 1 try (unless ur extreme, extreme lucky)
b/ Keep trying, every time u click your char moves a little bit
c/ Eventually your character will not crash anymore (or not immediately upon logging in)

OPTION 2: (not confirmed yet)

7/ Finish the job
-> Once u are away from the spot, IT IS NOT OVER YET
-> Go to town
a/ use a return scroll (immediate return scroll is preferred)
b/ Die from monster
c/ Let someone murder you
d/ Die from high lvl npc thiefs/hunters (earth nukes or lightning bows)
-> once u are in town your character IS unbugged
-> move it to a not so crowded spot
-> log off & log back in

8/ Enjoy sro again

9/ No Succes?
-> Send a bugreport to joymax
-> In the meanwhile: keep trying
-> Logging in many times, gets noticed somewhere at jm (someone got banned for re-creating pt all day long); maybe they will help u sooner if they notice "weird" behavior

10/ Why write this?
This guide is made by me, after having a bugged char myself. (which I got unbugged)
2 weeks after, I had to unbug my friend's char too (unbugged now)
Today another friend got a bugged char...
And i know many other people have similar issues too
A map with bugged locations will follow

:S a lot of it is wrong though

at least on the ???? bug, i found if you downloaded a lot recently, the harddrive is just fragmented so defrag it and it wont ????

the random clicking to move out of a map is also not helping much :s just use arrow keys and press up, if you dont move, turn to right and try again, clicking in same spot when you dont go anywhere isnt going to make it work

just opening a stall will get rid of some of the bugs too

my friend have a bugg
he join a event and sro crash after that login at chars select screen we click Start it crash game... is there a way to get out of this bugg?
his account have premium also.

Another way to unbug your char ( hearf about it yesthirday) idk, but it works, maybe not on the 1st try but on the 2nd or third. It's tested.
Login to OTHER server, create a char there and login. Your char should be fine after 2-3 loggings.
Hope this helps too, Razor may put it up in the thread if he think it's useful.

Ur problem is: the selection screen crashes. My original guide needs the for the char to load.
Maybe u should try Option 2

Rofl, I was it was that simple, none would ever have the ??? error anymore...
I even tested it for you: Formatted my laptop & reinstall windows (+ updates) and after 4 hours of playing and a lot of teleports it gave me ??? error.
It was fresh install; only installed directX - sro - firefox
All 3 installers were on a external HD

If the character is facing a wall/moutain/... pressing forward helps nothing
Try to make your character face an other direction through the use of left/right arrow key is gonna be hard...

In order to open a stall that fast it would have to be in the quickslot.
And I wasn't able to use my imbue when entering the game (which is in my quickslot)

Hy all

I have problem with bugged char, and i have not managed to unbugg him with ur guide. So pls if some 1 have experience with char bugged in bandit FW help me pls. I sent 100 bugg reports to joymax, and nothing. 5 minutes before ending bandit fortress I received DC. I did not immediately log in because i did not have a premium. When i loged in 30 minutes after dc i did not see hp/mp and got immediately dc (3 sec after i log in). Picture show u what i see and where i stucked. If some1 can help add me on msn or send me mail or something else pls. Thx all

i dont know or it works but what about instant return scrolls?

hm, i dont testet it but i hear about another way:
you create a new char on the same id and level him up to level 20
then you join capture the flag event and a few secs before the event starts you restart sro and logg in with the buggy char
now you will be at the event with your bugged char and can kill some low lvl 20 players and after event all should be fine!

LMAO i am always wondering how people discover these things

This is the bug i have, did u solved it?

Cmon be creative , ask wiz or 1h or whatever when u log in kb you farther or pk ^^ , hope helped.
