Installing 2 Versions Of SilkRoadOnline

Note* u will need any Blank DVD-R or media capable of holding 1GB

Step 1: Goto Your Silkroad Directory (Usually C:/Program Files/Silkroad)
and Copy the folder..then burn it to our dvd-r , (I usually use nero)

Step 2: im guessing you have the client for whatever version of SRO ready to go.. so Install it, it will delete your English version of SRO (thats ok , well get it back on later). when its done, rename it to "SilkroadJapan" or whatever version you have.

Step 3: take your burned SRO cd , and manually move the Silkroad folder to, C:/program files/Silkroad , then go into the Enligsh SRO folder and copy "Silkroad.exe" to your desktop , rename it if you wish,

Your all done!, Enjoy playing either or when servers are down!

I'm not sure why anyone would want to go play the Japanese version just because the English version is down for 5 minutes. You'd have to create a new character, suffer through all the Jap quest text, and listen to endless streams of Korean and Senglish which I personally cannot -stand-.

Okay...maybe I missed something, but how is using the term "Jap" demeaning? This is an honest question. I just see Jap as a shorter term of the word Japanese. Correct me if I am wrong or don't know something.

No need to burn the english version to cd.. just move the Silkroad folder to somewhere else on your hard drive other than in the Program Files directory, or simply rename the folder Silkroad to some thing like Silkroad2. Then all you need to do is install the Japanese version, once done it will create a folder called Silkroad, just like the english version does..

When you want to go back to the english version, just change the english folder Silkroad2, back to Silkroad, and change the japanese folder name to Silkroad 2, sound confusing? well it isnt :P just keep trying u'll get the hang of it.

The reason you need to do all of that, is simply because you arnt allowed to have two folders with the same name, being in the same directory.. your operating system wont allow it. So when you attempt to install the japanese sro without moving or editing the original english sro folder name, it will either not allow it, or it will overwrite your orginial copy, because the japanese installer will be creating the same name folder in the same directory as ur english version, which as explained above, is not allowed.

It's much simpler, and saves you from wasting a cd or dvd.

BTW, i also cant see why the word Jap would be offensive? :?

You can't just rename your Silkroad installation folder without modifying your registry - the installer looks there 1st and will tell you SRO is already installed and prompt you to replace it.

Top-to-Bottom simple steps:

1. Install International SRO (if not already installed)
2. Run REGEDIT and change InstallPath key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Joymax\Silkroad to anything other than the actual path to where SRO is installed.
3. Rename SRO folder something like "Silkroad Int" (or whatever) - just make sure you use a different name than the one in step 2.
4. Install Japanese SRO - installer will not detect prior version now.
5. Create/modify shortcuts to both silkroad.exe files accordingly.

That's it :)

"jap" was used racisly(word?) during...some far off war where japanese where discriminated, sorta like the jews. I am japanese myself and take that a little seriously

but no hard feelings or....
