Using Elixirs to Enhance Items

This guide is to explain how to use elixirs to improve your items based on previous posts. Each time you wish to enhance an item, you need three major components.

The Item to Enhance. The item can be anything you wear on your character, provided you have the proper elixir.

The Proper Elixir. There are four kinds of elixirs
Image
  • Intensify Elixir (Weapon) For enhancing melee and ranged weapons
  • Intensify Elixir (Protector) For enhancing armor, and armor pieces
  • Intensify Elixir (Accessory) For enhancing rings and jewelry
  • Intensify Elixir (Shield) For shields of course!
Lucky Powder. Depending on the 'degrees' of the weapon.
Image

:!: Enhancing an item does not always work. Its a luck chance. This is what the lucky powder is for. When the chance fails, you lose ALL previous enhancements you placed on the weapon! Each weapon has a 'degrees'. This is the degree of the lucky powder you need to use.

Some items have special bonuses for alchemy. Most bonuses have charges. Each time you mix the weapon, it will use one of these charges. If it was Steady 3 times before the mix, it will be Steady 2 times after mixing.
  • Steady: If the enhancement fails, it has better chances not to lose the previous enhancements.
  • Luck: Same as the lucky powder. Adds a little more luck on an item and improves your chance of success.
  • Imortality: Increases the chances your weapon won't break.

Lets Begin the Mix

In this guide I am going to enhance a chest protector. Not all items are worth enhancing! The cost you could pay for an elixir could well exceed the worth of the final item. Especially if you have lower level items, and your going to toss them away soon. Its probably NOT worth using an expensive elixir to enhance it.

The item I chose is a protector for a level 21 character. It already has some great stats on it, so I will spend a little more to further enhance it.

Image

First, I put all three items into my inventory, and open the 'Alchemy' menu under 'Actions'. There is a spot for each item on the Alchemy window.
Image
When everything is ready, we press 'Joint' and pray the enhancement is a success. Remember, it doesn't always work.

If it was successful, you will see this message in your chat window.

Image

If the enhancement is a success, you will see additional bonuses on items. There is no fixed bonus. If we compare the result below with the original item, we have a little more physical and magic defense, and +1 to intel. You don't always get bonuses to your stats - so this is a lucky mix!

what is immortality?
and steady what does it means by 1time/time? same for luck immortality etc etc

Immortality increases the chances that your weapon won't break.

the numbers are the number of CHARGES available. If Steady is at 3 and if it saved your butt once from upgrading (this is also by chance.). it will go down to 2.

Thanks!

There are some things bit of a gray area - like what 1,2,3 for steady and luck REALLY does.

If we can figgure it all out, revisions will be made of course.

:D

lucky, adds an additional bit of luck to the items alchemy (same as lucky powders) it is used each ime the item undergoes alchemy, so for a 3 lucky, the first 3 times, fial or not.

steady comes into action if the alchemy fails it has a 'so and so' chance of preventing the item from using any previous enchantments, one time use for each number

luck

does luck only work for the weapon your enhanching?

err, say i have a bunch of items that boost luck, does all the luck figure in when i am enhancing or just the + to luck from that one item?

also does luck go down each time you enhance?

okay, can someone explain how why i couldn't use lucky powder when i tryied to use alchemy on one of my items. (i think it was chest armor) I tried all three levels of it and none of them worked.

Also, how do you get something to the higher levels (+2, +3..)

EDIT: Never mind. I found my answer in another thread. But if someone wants to reply for the benefit of others. I won't stop them :P

Can you buy elixirs anywhere or can they only be found as item drops? If you can buy them, where are they? If they are drops, what monsters are best for getting them?

they are dropped randomly by any mob, and rarely for most.

you can buy them from other players in their stalls, they are not cheap.

Thank you!

I had been wondering about the mechanics of the alchemy window. I had already wasted an elixer or two. The text that looks like it would give you info doesn't scroll down, does it?

The luck part of the item doest affect the drop rates of stuff from monsters. If they were, you would see alot of blue items with "lucky" on it priced like hell. Its not true.

yet to be implemented, perhaps each one will be able to advance aclhemic additions to your items in various ways, such as adding new elements, or permanent elements without having to imbue.

the fact is you can click on them all you want, they wont even flicker, its just dead gui right now.

excellent tutorial, man, i've not seen one as good anywhere. the graphical guide helps a lot.

i also didn't know that enchanting can add stat bonuses to your gear. nice info to know. however, does that also mean that if your enchanting fails on gear that has stat bonuses, there's a chance that they too will be removed? anyone?

that makes me nervous... i have an (almost) full set of int+ gear, and i'd like to plus some of it, but that's a risk i don't know if i wanna take.

I havn't seen stats in a long time. And i've jammed elixers in almost all my armors. Maybe I digitially edit that out somehow.

I dont know if that one time was a fluke or has been changed.

I dont think failure will remove bonuses.

lol---

I read this tutorial so I thought, "hey let's give it a try."

Got a Lvl 29 Shield, found 4th degree lucky powder. The shield had Steady 2. I had two shield Elixirs that I'd either gotten for cheap or on drops. The first attempt was a success. Bam +1. Awesome. Still steady (2). I think, "this steady is going to prevent it from losing its buffs"... so I try it again, and I'm back to a regular shield, no buffs.... but still Steady +2. I guess this means that the Steady is just a better chance not to lose buffs? And i just was just more unlucky than usual?

If Steady had been used during the process of your Alchemy, the item would now only have 1 Steady.

I heard Steady isn't working yet.
