I know that those things enhance the item level or something? But can someone tell me exactly what each one does to an item? Thanks.

SoS=+5
SoM=+10
SoSu=+15

even i had that question why are they so costly .
But is it just +5 and stuff or does it have something else too which makes it costly other than the fact that most of them dont get it at a frequent rate

the reason they are costly is that they drop rarely (I've gotten 2 on my level 55 char, one was last night).
The second reason is that they do the damage or have the defense of an item many levels above and you can still add +1, +2, +3 etc. In other words lets say I have a level 16 SOStar spear, it does the damage of a level 21 spear, at level 16. If the item is +3 it then does the damage of a level 24 spear. This allows the user to kill faster and higher level than they would normally be able to.

plus they are equivilant of an item that many lvls higher. not just the attack or defense power but the reinforce and the durability and the AR and all the other stuff. unlike + where its only the attack dmg or defense power

actually the real reason sos are worth so much (i think) is because they are unmatched. Most SOS are at least +3 so in total its a +8 item. A regular item at +8 is crazy hard to get too (and i think at a certain +level it can disappear during alchamy?)

L24s happen to seem like the most common for the 2X range: Blade, Bow, Spear, etc... Not sure if that's the only one that spawns or not, but I do know there are lots of L24 SOS's. (On Troy at least)
