In this tutorial you will learn how to use Windows movie maker, and how to make a litle and simple movie.

You will not learn how to make awesome long movies like Squirtle did but simply how to use movie maker and make a quick movie with it!

BEFORE YOU START:
Movie maker has the bad habit to crash in middle of editing, so i suggest you often save your project file.
You're making a movie but it will be saved as projects (only emplacement of your elements, its not saved directly as a movie [see bottom of this page]), so do not chenge the emplacement of your elements, else you'll have to do it again :s

so this is windows movie maker :

Image

At center you can see the "collection", you can drag your videos/song in it, or click "import videos" / "import videos or music". Once in the collection, you can drag them on the timeline.

This is the timeline
Image

The timeline is where you can put your videos, images, sounds/music. It will show up in chronological order. a bit like this

Now simply add what you want in the order you want to your video.Have fun =)

Effects/Titles:

You can click here to see what effects or title you can add to your movie, it is REALLY simple.
To add an effect, just select the one you like , click and drag it to your timeline, before the element supposed to have a special effect. Tip : you can also right click your element, and click "Video Effects".
To add a title, movie maker will propose you a list of titles (before the selected clip, etc.). Select the one you like. Edit it your way (you can change font color, background color, font, opacity, etc. When you have finished click "Done".
For Video Transitions, simply click and drag the one you like between two elements.

Keep playing around with effects and titles...

Now that your movie is looking right, you want to save it ofcourse.
Image
click "Save to my computer"
Then select a name for your movie, and where to save it on your computer.
Then you can select the size/quality
While saving, go drink something, go pooh, do something else because it might take a while.

Et Voila.

Did this help you? What should i add?

looks neat bro. nice work with the screenshots.

at least one thing i would personally like to see added..
thats some tips on like.. how to save the file, like what format n stuff..
i mean, do you save it as *.avi? *.mpg? *.mp4? maybe its possible to
save short clips so you can play em on your mobile? cause.. for example..
i also dont know what movie formats are the most regular to upload.. and
i believe that some dvd players play just *.mpg and dont like the *.avi files..

meh. idk if you know anything about that, but maybe with a little tryout or
research that could be added?

for the rest, great guide. i will add it to the sticky under "other guides" for now.
maybe if it gets popular, i will make either a seperate sticky or a seperate
section for movie/photo editing.

*will make a link in artist corner tuts too.
