Editing Skills

1. Make a backup of your Data.pk2 file, copy it to your Documents, or anywhere else.

2. Open HexEdit121.

3. File -> Open -> Your Silkroad folder -> Data.pk2

4. Search -> Replace

For example I want to change the first Soul Spear to the 4th Soul Spear. So:

Find What: skill_ch_spear_stun_a.ban
Replace With: skill_ch_spear_stun_d.ban
Data Type: ANSI String

Press Replace All.
You will get a massage: "Cannot find anymore data." - Press OK.
SAVE NOW, then edit another skills if you want.

IF THE FIND/REPLACE METHOD DON' T WORK:

1. Open HexEdit121.

2. File -> Open -> Your Silkroad folder -> Data.pk2

3. Search -> Find
For example i want to change the first Chain Spear to the 5th Chain Spear.

Find What: skill_ch_spear_chain_a.ban
ANSI String
Press OK.


Click to the beggining of "a"
Then press e (because i wanted to edit first Chain Spear to the 5th... a= first book, e=5th book)

Ok now press F3 (or Search -> Find Next) and do the same thing. Click the begining of "a", then edit to "e" blablabla... Do it until you get a massage: "Cannot find anymore data!".
Then save, close and test.
Extra
Editing skill icons:

1. Make a backup of your Media.pk2, copy it to your Documents or anywhere else.

2. Open XVI32.

3. File -> Open -> Your Silkroad folder -> Media.pk2

4. Search -> Replace

5. Check the Unicode Latin thing.

6. I want to change the first Soul Spear icon to the 4th Soul Spear icon. So:
Find: skill\china\spear_stun_a.ddj
Replace: skill\china\spear_stun_d.ddj


Save, close and test.

that possible but its changing the size of the file. you'll have to change a chain to one of the spear animations.
and it'll look retarded

technically it's not legit. but many people still do it anyways. If you dont wanna risk getting banned then dont do it.

Make sure, you are searching in ANSI String mode.

I don't get it, when i try to search for skill_ch_spear_chain_a.ban it says Cannot find anymore data and it doesn't found anything, what do i do?

this guide istn really...working,

well for people, when u use the hexedit and do a ANSI search like u said in your intruction, and if it says " Cannot Find Anymore Data or w/e"
that means it didnt find any.
that is why it doesnt work...try to fix it please ^^

nice guide, but it doesnt work, because the hexeditor is unable to safe anything. neither with 'safe as' nor with 'safe'.

come to think of it, what does the *.ban do? Change the animation? like .bsr changes how things look.

1. It is easier to change skills when just using Find/Replace, but it only works if your just changing like First fire nuke to 2,3, or 4th or whatever. Or if the lines are the same length.

2. If you want to change skills completley, then go look at some guides made By us peeps that know what were doing.

3. I made sound rude, but I'm just annoyed by the reposted guides.

It's like .efp, but it's the animation that the char does. And These reposted guides are annoying because i did this With the First skill editing guide when i had no clue what i was doing. Now i know a hell of a lot. So posting the same guides with something a little different than others will confuse the people that are learning

what exactly does pk2 editing do? does it just change the way you view the item/spell? or does it actually affect spell and or weapon attributes, dmg speed ext. ?
