I doubt it because some say it is hacking - but it isn't. It's just changing the image of what you and only you see. So it's not interfering with anyone else. The only thing that's happened to me so far is if my media.pk2 file is too small or too big then sro client updates it to make it regular again.

no - its client side - they could only detect if they pretty much hacked you i think.

They could easily detect if you have a altered client. That is one of the purposes of gameGuard. As of right now no they won't ban you. In the future, if they actually do something about the bots, they might not differentiate between harmless pk2 and a bot program.
Mostlikely though they will ban bots in the future by tracking player movement in game just like REV6.
Also since pk2 editing is becoming popular they will probably warn you first if they will start blocking accounts. They will say you have a modified client and need to delete and re-download the game, thats all.
***EDIT***
I was using logic, Joymax does not, so who knows what they will do

Not to be rude but if you read the forums more you would notice that me and Cruor have both said you cannot be banned for .pk2 file editing unless you are trying to pull some kind of client side dupe hack or some other bullshit. Joymax cannot detect modificed .pk2 clients as long as the file size is the same as when you started. So all the people saying OMGWTFBBQHACK Ill bold this last sentence for you since you all cant seem to read at all:
JOYMAX CANNOT DETECT A MODIFIED PK2 FILE IF IT IS THE SAME SIZE AS WHEN YOU STARTED UNLESS YOU ARE TRYING TO DO A HACK OF SOME KIND. OTHERWISE JOYMAX WILL NOT BAN YOU FOR PK2 EDITING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DETECT IT!

Sorry I dont pay much attention to pk editing, I haven't seen your posts or Cruor's.
But who said they won't do scans of your files in the future. Old bot programs depended on graphic modification didn't they?

Hmm, doubt it. Since all you change is something you see. And yes, somebots rely on graphical mods, but if joymax is to do a scan, the will probably scan for the specific hex string of that graphical mod, not for the fact that you like fighting mangyangs better than niya soliders ^_^.

haha - yea.
and you can make media.pk2 file the same as original by adding null bytes at the end. so there should be no problem

Skandal you are right if they do anything at all they will probably look for a specific modification. However if they are smart they will be more proactive and look for anything that could be a modification for a bot program.
And shooty, null bytes are used as filler to make code look a certain length correct? (that is my understanding from looking it up on wipkedia) Can't they look for more then just length. Why can't they look at the actual code.
If I was joymax, I would basiclly include a (antivirus program) with heuristics as just 1 part of my bot fighting strategy.
Of course at their current speed this won't happen for another 5 years. But I don't like saying they won't do it either.
As of right now they are completely incompetent when it comes to this stuff, but who knows, with the influx of money from the premium tickets anything is possible.
