Changing Glows on Weapons -Lazy man's guide.

Alright I decided to make a complete new thread about this seeing as many people pm us or make totally new thread about glow on weapons.

I will try to make it as clear as I can, because at first the original tutorial was hard to follow.

All right here goes:


Step .1
Back your media.pk2 up, the easiest way to do this go into your silkroad file and right click on media.pk2 simply click send to > My Documents. This makes a back up of the file.

Step .2
Open your newly made media.pk2 in the My Documents folder with a program such as xvi32 [ This will be the easiest seeing as I will base all my screenshots on this program ].

Step .3
At this step you should have media.pk2 opened in xvi32. If not restart this guide -lol. Anyways this is the important bit please read this carefully as you won't be doing much but it is important.
At the top of your xvi32 there should be a tab called search. Click this then click on ' find '.

Step .4
Once you have clicked on find, you will get a mini screen similar to this. Fill it in EXACTLY like I have, for now it does not matter what item you want to change all we are doing is getting to the right part of media.pk2 .

Step .5
Ok once this is done it should put you at a certain point in media.pk2. Now here comes the tricky bit I will provide 2 .txt files both are of importance.

Right here's the tricky bit I will be showing how to change a +5 72 sword into a +9 72 sword. If you happen to have this lucky lucky if not just use common sense. Right now for the very hard part where a lot of people get stuck on. This code 3X 20 09 3Y will be filled in according to your item. Use the txt files to determine what the X and Y should be. others guides left it at this but I will show you what to look for. First open itemoption.exe
and look up your weapon.

My weapon a 72 sword was :
ITEM_CH_SWORD_07_C 4

A lvl 42 spear would be :
ITEM_CH_SPEAR_06_A 4

Get the picture? Right the purpose of this was to get the number at the end of your weapon, coincidentally they are both 4. Right first part over.
Now open itemtypenumber.txt. Look for the number you had, which would be in this case 4 and then what your CURRENT glow is, so my 2 numbers would be 4 and 5 seeing as my weapon is +5.

Indicated in the red line is my weapon info Notice the 4 and the 5 are the first 2 numbers? These 2 numbers are of importance.
Right Now we get that
3X 20 09 3Y back change X to the first number which in my case is 4 and then change Y to the second number which would be 5 [ X would be between 1 and 4 Y would be between 3 and 9 ]
So it will look like this now 34 20 09 35.


Step .6
Now go up to Search again and then find type your ' code ' which in my case is 34 20 09 35 in the search box as indicated in the picture below, then click on search. You should see this :

Step .7
After pressing done you will be at a different point in your media.pk2 again I'll say if your doing a 72 sword +5 making it +9 everything should look somewhat the same. If you doing a spear obviously it will be different. Right now the blue arrow is where your cursor should be after pressing done. Whatever weapon you have somewhere after the cursor you should see 6 sets of X.XXX's as shown in the red boxes ( X = number ) This is YOUR +3 / +5 / +7 / +9 weapon CURRENTLY.

What you don't want is the same colour right .... so here I'll give the codes.
+3 ~ 1.000,1.000,1.000 0.988,1.000,0.690
+5 ~ 0.996,0.173,0.510 0.902,0.122,0.761
+7 ~ 0.992,0.996,0.510 0.831,0.231,0.000
+9 ~ 0.388,0.502,0.890 0.094,0.580,0.380


Obviously if you want to be original you can randomize the numbers. If your familiar with RGB you can use those ie. 1.000,0.000,0.000 would be red.

If you have changed it successfully you can exit out it should prompt you to save. just save it. If you done that skip the next step.


Step .8
If you need to know how to change the values of the colours read carefully.

In this image mu cursor has the number 9 selected. I f you need to change it into a 0 simply press 0. Don't go crazy here because to my knowledge there is no undo button.

Step .9
Right Now you have saved the file. The file if you have done exactly what I said so far should be in your My Documents file or whatever it's called depending in your Windows Language. Now drag this to your desktop, and open your sro file. Drag the media.pk2 from your sro file into My documents if it prompts to overwrite re-read what I just said. Right now drag the media.pk2 that is on your desktop into your sro file.

And start sro up :) When you log in you should see if you have your weapon equipped immediate changes.

For kicks and giggles here's my +5 spear now a +9 ^^

Hope this HELPS, the files you need to download are clean I spoke to a mod if I could post and they had given me the all clear.

Stops at 9 officially, but seeing as you can make your own theres isn't just 4 colours.

lol should have been up earlier cause i just used the other guide already and got somy sweet funky red glow on my shield and turqoise on my wep :D How the **** do u get multi glows?

Well thers 6 sets of 0,000's the first 3 would be lets say in a +9 would b blueish glow, the other 3 would be the greenish glow.

If you made the first three red 1.000 0.000 0.000 and then made the other 3 blue 0.000 1.000 0.000 it would glow from red to blue.

I have to add, only YOU will see the changes, so there's totally no use showing your friends in game. Also your weapon will not be +9 if you changed it to that that colour. media.pk2 = All about appearance.

Also Once you changed lets say your +5 wep into a green glow. Every single +5 weapon in the server will be green.

Has it's pros and cons. A pro would be you would know who has a +6 as that would still be purple :) Cons would be too much of 1 colour :P.

Only ht intensity I think havn't really messed with it much before the bit where you change your weapons colour [ Step 7 between the blue arrow and the red box is prim/mtrl/itemoption/option_texture13.ddj ]

The option_texture13.ddj defines it's brightness change 13 into say 20 [ Which is the max ] and it will be bright as hell thuns increasign the intensity.

O very sexy :) and 1.000 1.000 1.000 is white.

RGB stands for Red - Green - Blue hens 1.000 0.000 0.000 being red :)
If you would want it to glow red-blue simply instead of typing
0.388,0.502,0.890 0.094,0.580,0.380 for a +9

Type:
1.000,0.000,0.000 0.000,0.000,1.000
__R____G____B____R____G____B__

I put the rgb's under it so it's easier to follow. Making say R between 0.000 and 1.000 makes it a different shade of red ya see :)

And yes people have unpacked the ddj's of the 10th 11th and 12th degree weapons. They look kinda un-original I have to say tho.

Obviously if you want to be original you can randomize the numbers. If your familiar with RGB you can use those ie. 1.000,0.000,0.000 would be red.

? RGB only supports up to 255, how is the blue on the first set 388 ,502, 890 ? (taken from +9)

Think of it more like in photoshop when you are in the RGB screen you have 3 sliders.

Moving the first one all the way up [ 1.000 ] would make it red leaving the other 2 [ 0.000,0.000 ] would leave those 2 colours blank ie. Only showing red.

So to get a red / blue or blue / red effect you should do

1.000 0.000 0.000 = Red
0.000 0.000 1.000 = Blue

Instead of doing
0.388 0.502 0.890 = Lightish blue
0.094 0.580 0.380 = Turquoise [ Cause +9 isnt really blue / green ]

the blade is

2 - 5

and so is the shield, therefore is it not possible to make the blade/shield +5 glow different colour?

will be looking forward to your next simple guides for seals/degree armour changes :D

off topic abit, isit possible to change european armour to chinese ?_? or change my current male model, to a female model ?

lol i just realized you can make black :P I'm gonna make a black and green glow :D Can u change the color of the sun glow? cause i would like to chande that to black

Yeah cause the way this works is replacing a global colour file. I changed my spear ... which in turn changed basically every weapon lol.

Blade would be 32 20 09 35 which means yeah everything will look the same but thats the catch with this editing stuff. Making male to female should be pretty easy .. but once again everyone with your skin will be female possibly wearing male clothes though unless you changed that.

Oh whoops that ITEM_CH_SWORD_07_C was a bad typo I'll fix that right away. Or did it somehow work for you? Interesting...


And for Blackdragon yes seal glow can be changed to whatever colour you want it to be, you can also change the intensity so like your seal glow covers a whole city -lol.
