I followed the guide for changing the way weapons and shields look. I have a character with a degree 5 sword and degree 4 shield. I tried to make them look like degree 9. When I logged in, the game crashed. Anyone know why this may be happening?

When you change the way your weapon looks, do you see the new weapon on the character select screen?

Should I unequip the item and log off before I change them?

EDIT:
I went back and clicked replace all instead of just the first thing it found. This time I saw the degree 9 items at the character select screen, but I still got disconnected from the game. (it gave me the ?????? error)

Check the size of the file, i modded Data.pk2 once and was good, but something should have update or something because the file suddenly was supposed to be larger. I had a backup of Data.pk2 that was, let's say 608 MB, and the new one was supposed to be 609MB, so i had to reainstall. Just check if the size is the same.

I think I know what the problem is...

The only thing that comes to mind right now for me is that you might have accidentally changed the textdataname.txt file as well. That would have produced duplicate entries for a name for "SN_ITEM_CH_SWORD_09_A" so when the game sees your weapon referencing the description "SN_ITEM_CH_SWORD_09_A", it doesn't know which one to choose and crashes. That is why I prefer to edit the bytes by hand, because I know I'm not changing anything I don't want to change in the file.

However, I'm not sure how to view the txt file I want. I found this in a thread, but I don't really understand the way he explains it. When I use the pk2 extractor, I don't see the certain txt file he refers to. He said something about looking for it in the hex editor, but I got lost at that point.

Ok... got it to work finally. I don't really know how I did it though. I really want to try that horse thing now... Here we go...

This is all I see with the extractor. I see other people getting a lot more to show up. How do I see those?

D is for Directory. All of those names with D's next to them are directories. Double click them to change to them. The D with a single dot next to it refreshes a directory, and a D with two dots next to you moves you up one directory. Double click on files to extract them. Clicking Extract All will extract everything in the PK2 file, preserving the directory tree.

This is using pk2 editing. My wolf is a gray level 34 wolf, and I'm riding a red horse. You just have to swap out the bsr of the horse with the bsr of the tiger. There are guides on this that explain better.

I myself am having trouble with the seals. My weapon is already sos, so I'm supposed to just reverse the A's and C's... I think. Can't get it to work. If anyone could go into detail on switching seals on items, I'd appreciate it.

Woot! Now I can farm with a sosun +9 moon bow.
I think moon bow is one of the coolest looking weapons since you can see plusses so easily on it. My favorite color is also silver... so that's another good thing about it. Now i just have to mess with mobs and skills to have tried each thing posted on silkroadforums. pk2 editing is so much fun.
