To the newbies that want to do jobs...

Please take my advice for what it's worth. If you just turned lvl 20 and are all excited about becoming a trader and think your gonna rule the finacial universe, 9 times out of 10 you're gonna be wrong. Unless you have serious help from guildies, trade runs get popped by lvl 50+ thiefs ALL DAY LONG. So be very wary with even your one stars. Doing multistars at that low of a lvl is good IF you have the high lvl hunter help along for the ride. Sometimes a gracious high lvl hunter is bored and hangs out near the ferries, but it is not gonna always happen.
As for thieving, you can only hope to get the scraps of dead 5 star runs and then scurry to the shadows to wait out the 5 mins it takes for the bandit den scroll to kick in. If you are seen by a high lvl hunter or trader you are almost always toast on site. Once again, IF you have guild support you are probably ok.
And finally the newbie hunter. You would be silly to think you could do anything except look cool in your hunter flag at lvl 20. Face it, look up pwned in the dictionary and you will see yourself.
Basically, without the enthusiastic support of your guildies, jobbing at lvl 20 is almost useless. I started when I was in my 40's and without help it was still hard. Just use the time you were gonna use to job for lvling and you will be much, much happier when you succeed in the jobbing portion of the game and dont fail as often.
Just my 2 cents...

Awww and here I was approaching 20 feeling that same noobish excitement. Haven't looked around for a good guild yet either.....so what your saying is it's back to the grind..... lol - so it is.

Haha my guildmate tried to trade at 20. He kept yelling, "HELP! HELP! A THIEF!." in guild chat. One of my guild mates had to babysit him for quite a while. Do yourself a favor and at least get to level 30-40 before doing trade runs on your own. Otherwise deal with the fact that your gonna get popped or you will have to spend lots on recovery kits.

Probably not the right thread but I'll ask and maybe get a quick answer here or pointed to the correct thread. I am on my second character after completely screwing up the first and not SP farming or picking a tree...I had SP all over......but that is not the point. My new character which I am grinding about 2-3hours a day keeping a 7-8 gap is coming along nicely. I haven't seen any threads that show guilds recruiting say level 20+ but under 40 and I would love to get in with a good group (I am an old Unreal Tournament player and use teamspeak/ventrillo and played in clans almost exclusively so I miss the online comraderie).
I would still grind to get my level up but it would be nice to have a peep or two to go out and hunt a few black/white tigers (mid level guys that still hang around Jangan) or watch my back for thieves.....of which I have been popped twice by and I was only level 10 and had nothing (oh 3 return scrolls I dropped) Anyway any good guild needing a good low level grinder that will one day be great (hopefully) let me know.
Peace.

Tell us what server you play on so that someone could invite you to their guild. Sounds like your SP farming, so your character would be an asset to any guild because you will be making tons of GP for lvling. Check out the guild section of the forum and post a thread. Good luck.

I am playing on Troy SP farming as a PURE STR/GLAV. I am probably older than most of the crowd so no immature crap is going to come from me. I will be leveling up 14 and hopefully 15 tonight.
ZoJyong - male / white garments working the glav and the chi in tombs or the Yeohas just across the River.
Thanks for the advice Magnus

It's possible on newer servers I had some successful trade runs at 20+ by myself just gotta be extra careful to avoid lvl 25+ mobs

+1. When i started out on greece i had i think at least a 85%-90% sucess rate on 1*s as a 2x, though ive done much more thiefing than trading (if at all) recently.
As for the guild thing, its great to have a guild that has your back, but dont make them your "mandetory revenge" guild. What i mean is lets say your trading and all of a sudden a thief pops you and you call a guildmate in, who took time out of his grinding to help you. By the time he gets there you find the thief is no where in sight and you then say "ummm he popped me right here idk where he went." After a good 5-10 minutes of searching u cant find the thief and surely by now the thief scrolled out by now. Your guildmate is then disgruntled for trying to help realizing you dont know where the theif is.
If stuff like that gets excessive/daily then most likely ull end up being kicked from ur guild. I'm not saying you shouldnt ask ur guild for help because thats the point of the guild, but try to avoid things like that or making it excessive.

yep, i've started trading alone since lvl24 and i've only been popped once. so low lvl trading alone is not impossible, but sometimes u have to take the long way and be very careful.

That's why us BlackHand prohibit 1* popping we are modest people, power to low lvls!

Cool thanks for all the info. I do see trade runs going out of Jangan to Donwhang I presume pretty regularly. I always want to tag along but I will wait. But, that is the thing I want to do for a while, make myself available for hire for trade runs back and forth and also to prowl the areas around Jangan (until I level up to 30+) and help keep the thieves from popping 1* minding their own business grinding and/or just having fun.
Very nice Midnight8.......I hated the fact that I got popped (first character build) from thieves when I was grinding because it was bad enough spending the hours doing it to then lose a % in seconds to a thief......but I also accepted that is part of the game

at lvl30+ you still own't be able to stop 1 star popping. most theives that pop use 7th degree gear (at least on sparta).

Look up _Bone_ThugZ_ Guild mates and one of us would be happy to add you. We're a LVL2 Guild and growing. And I'm also an older guy, 2 of my Sons are in the Guild. I'm often stalling south side of the fountain, look for the _Bone_ThugZ_ label....
As for the subject, been there. I'm LVL24, got a Son LVL31. With another 31 Guild buddy, we did some 1 star runs, got one in ok, pwnd by lvl50 scum on another. Later we loaded up with 3 stars and moved to secluded area in the marshes so one guildy could build up Hunter points by killing all the NPC Thieves that show while we sat in a Harmony Circle the whole time. We were in Party mode of course. Some bozo kept hanging and trying to get in on all the kills. What ever. Then after 1/2 hour, he calls up a lvl50 thief friend, switch his suit and kills all of us and takes all the goods. WTF? Maybe cause I am an adult, when I get to that LVL, I would never do such a thing, I like challenge in my games. Hunting newbs has no challenge and is suitble for little kids that enjoy plucking wings off of flys. One of the scum was name Gercio_ something......he will not be forgotten!

So there is more to this than just at first glance.....hehe....that's cool. I'm sure it would be absolutely boring if everything was always fair and easy. I will give you a shout JETninja since i see the Bone_Thugz label pretty regularly around the center area with a stall setup. Probably bought something from the stall myself matter a fact. I will be grinding tonight for a few hours and turning some stones hopefully. I might even go finish that Jaeun Temple quest and get those stone pieces and the 10500 exp since that is quicker than killing mobs all night......so dang dreary over there and your always alone lol kinda creepy. I wish the horse would at least stay and make whinny noises every now and again......anyway see you on the server.

Nope, I mean I pop every now and then. And yes i'm in my 60's and yes I hunt also. In order to thief nowadays, you almost HAVE to pop. There are VERY FEW multistars out there. When I hunt, I tend to leave the low lvls alone for the most part. But sometimes i'm out to have my fun also.

I find merchanting at 2X really easy
As kitty said, its easier on newer servers.
Also, since I live in Australia, when I play alot of other people are sleeping ^.^
I do get popped sometimes, but 90% of the time the run is successful.

I don't have much of a problem getting multi stars. Then again, I usually don't go looking for them. I let multistars find me when I'm grinding. And no, I don't grind in a job suit...
Most thieves that I see complaining about "no multi stars" are the kind of thieves that will just hang out at the jangan crossroads or ferries all day instead of actually searching away from the main roads.

Well, if you know where to go and the paths that aren't traveled a lot, a lvl2x can do lots of 1* trades alone. I did tons of 1* camel runs from jangan to donwhang when I was in my 2x with my pure STR glaiver ^,^, just depends on the time of day, and what path.

True, i did most of my trades alone back then in the lv 20-ties
At lv 30 you can handle up to lv 38 npc thieves with a good wepon perferbly sos or a 3+

nah i think with enough transport heal you can make it even at lvl 20
it's hard but you can make it... just run your ass of when a high lvl thief with his transport shows up. I did that till i was about lvl 45
better be a living pussy than a dead hero..
thief and hunt at 20 that's just stupid.. you'll look cool.. but you'll be death too...
