I'd like to do a trade run at lvl 20. Problem is I play in europe. So where do I go and what route do I take to minimize the risks?

Can anybody help an utter noob :)

For your first trade should I recommend just going to the town thats the closest to you.
I would recommend staying away from monsters and focus on the thieves..
If you have a camel, wait for it at places where are less mobs, so the camel can keep up with you.

That's a problem, because Constantinople to Samarkand involves a longer run, and there are level 31/32's kokaru's, etc even on the road to Sam.

If I were you, I'd just pay the 25k, tp over to Jangan and do several trades from JG->DW. Most of the monsters you'll encounter will be less than 20, except when you get close to Donwhang, you see lvl 28 earth ghosts and the occasional demon horse/hyungno soldier/devil bug.

Or, still do the Constan->Sam run and load up HEAVILY on pots for your transport. Not sure if you'll actually make a profit that way...

The other reason I suggest DW-JG is that Euro's do more damage, so it's slightly easier to do the run on Chinese monsters :)

Routewise, just stick to the road and follow the advice earlier - take the north Chinese East ferry, not the West.

As a trader back when I was around lvl 20, most of the advice I received told me to avoid the main routes because that's where most thieves go to look for traders.

As a thief throughout most of my time in SRO, I found most of my traders on the main routes, and encountered other thieves mainly on the main routes.

I personally think it's safest for the trader to avoid main routes as much as possible. Maybe use a scout that runs ahead of you (not in a job suit) to let you know if it's clear or not, or if you're going to run into a huge mob of monsters, or other things to expect.

If you're doing a multi-star, especially a 5 star, it's also very helpful to announce your plans in globals. Use globals ask for a hunter to meet you at the gate you want to go out of, and also say what your destination is. For example, global:

WTB hunters for lvl 23 5 star trade run Jangan -> Donwhang. Meet me at the west gate in Jangan.

*puts on thief suit and heads to Jangan*  :P

heh...I've seen people globaling about a trade that doesn't exist just to get the heat off theirs, and hire a hunter just to stand by the east gate in DW so people will think the trade is still going there.

Well if I was already in pursuit of a trader, and saw globals like that, I wouldn't back off and run to town to get that 5 star that might not even exist. I'd stick with the one I know I can handle, and is in front of me. I can always go to the other trader afterwards.

Unless of course some lvl 80 hunter 1-hits me, which happened a lot when I used to be more active as a thief. :P
