question about alchemy
what does the % of the stones mean?? the chance of it to secceed or to fail????
The higher the %, the higher the chance of assimilation. So a 30% stone has a higher chance to assimilate another stat than a 10% stone. Usually any stone is used at first on a plain weapon\piece of gear. But once you get a lot of blues that you dont want messed with, people tend to use 10% stones only.
WTF Do All Those Stats Mean??? <--- CLICK ME NOW!

To clarify a bit what EllisD wrote:
Assimilation means the chance an OTHER ability changes then the one you want to put on.
For instance you want to put STR on your item, if it works and it adds(or decreases) your str, it (for instance) changes your int.
Therefore if you have an item with a lot of good blues/good white stats it is better to use a low assimilation stone.
It is NOT the chances it will succeed!
Some %'s assimilation (5% and 35%) you can only get when you destroy items and are lucky getting a stone.
