Ok, so i haven't been paying much attention to sro or the pserver community for sro for well over a year now, but last time i checked it was ZSZC that was the primary pserver, after ECSRO closed down etc. Aside from playing on foreign official sro servers, where are most of the old school isro players playing at now, like what is the most popular pserver? And also, why exactly are there numerous pservers, this forum is literally just a listing of different pservers and people asking to join them there... i dont see hardly any threads about anything else lol... was there a massive leak in the pserver files, like literally just a free download or something?

It's great to see so many, but I'm a little worried about the security of ay of these pservers tbh, i doubt many will last long enough to make playing worthwhile.

I believe vsro files were leaked, there a few popular servers, most of the old school players are playing on Silkroad Salvation which is run by the late avalon members Fly and Nightbloom.

A few players from here, including myself are playing on atomix, both servers (Atomix and Salvation), are really good, updated regulary and have more than enough support from active GM's.

A lot of the other servers are pretty much, cap in an hour or start at 110, pvp servers.

It is getting a bit ridiculous at the amount of new servers, since there are already so many out there.

But there are a hand full that are long time and are being updated regularly, and security isn't an issue with those.

Yeah, well it seems Silkroad Salvation is the place to play imo, after looking around and checking things out. I remember back on silkroad addiction fly and nightbloom wanted to start up there own pserver back then, and now it seems they finally have, so... kind of a no brainer as to which pserver to go for imo.

Salvation is a good server, didn't play there long though. I see they've done a lot of work there towards balancing races/classes and whatnot.

Yep, SilkroadSalvation sure is a good server. But so is Atomix with the PornFlakes guys

If you're casual, you should stick to Atomix, if you're up for playing a lot, go to SilkroadSalvation.

If you like a heavily modified Silkroad, go to Silkroad Slavation, if you like a somewhat more standard version (except the easier alchemy), go to Atomix.

It's mostly about preferences. I found that I did not have enough time to successfully play at Silkroad Salvation.

Anyway now there are a lot of servers most of them suck though, there are only a handful which run on decent hardware. If you're talking about security, in the sense of data security then I think you just shouldn't play at all. At the moment there is not a single server which is actually secured like it should be. A lot of the pserver owners, even the big ones think they have everything figured out, but they haven't. There is only one person who actually attempted to fix all the bugs and the exploits in these files, but as far as I know he's not planning on giving it out, or even starting a server himself. So you will regularely see servers going down, especially the big ones since they are a big target. Until they finally decide to stop rushing things and actually paying attention to security, but I think it's just the lack of talent and skills that makes people so careless.

If you meant by security, the time a server stays online, then you probably have more chance. There are a couple of servers which are making big money and hence have the ability to stay for a long time, but the big ones are also a target for joymax, since they started paying attention to the silkroad pserver community past few days. Anyway if you want to play on a server which is run by legits (maybe not in the past *cough*) then Salvation is a good choice if you can stand the rates, otherwise there is more than enough choice in the big population server segment, but don't expect miracles, none of the private server owners, and I really mean none even have a single clue about what they're doing, shamefully...

Both Atomix and Salvation are great servers. Atomix is the same as isro (in terms of skills, etc, not the 120 cap), Salvations like 70 cap w/ some high cap skills lowered to 70. I play on both, mostly doing BA's on Salvation while i grind/farm in Atomix.

I am playing both, Salvation and Atomix too.

I thought Chernobyl leaked them (and he released them). So who did it then?

Yes, chernobyl did release the files in public, but no he didn't hack them originally

Who that guy is should be fairly obvious, one of the only people with actual skill and who genuinely cares about silkroad (or used to)

edit: I'm not saying cherno did something bad, he was just the wrong person to do it

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'leaking', he did indeed leak them in public (released them on epvp and rz) but that doesn't mean he hacked them. if he does claim he hacked them, then he is indeed a liar, but I don't see it anywhere in his posts
