I mean, that analogy is flawed in and of itself. When a business says that they will provide service, free or not, they should follow up with their dates professionally. I understand it's difficult, but don't advertise, accept donations, or do who knows what, and not have a functioning server (and @cpinney, getting to level 8 amidst 10 crashes is not functioning) is blasphemous. I understand it's tough, but you are allowed to be pissed off, and you don't need to tell people they are doing something wrong, by wanting something they were promised.

Well, actually an open beta is supposed to be for finding bugs. And in that issue, the open beta was actually succesfull, bugs were found and should be worked on in the following days. If you expected a fully running server for the open beta, you obviously don't understand the purpose of an open beta. I guess this major DC bug couldn't be found in any of the tests before, as there weren't so many people trying to connect to the server at the same time.

And anyway, i think they are doing their best to get that server working. If you think, that it's not good enough and you could do it better, go ahead and make your own server. I bet you don't even know, how to do it.

If you want something to be done fine, you'll often need to be patient. Some things just take a while until they are done correctly and especially in programming it's always quite a lot trial and error. You change something in the code, thinking it would solve the current issue, but then another turns up, that's just normal.

Apparently you know how to do it all better. Why don't you go ahead and make your own server then to show all of us how it should be done? I am waiting. Actually i even doubt you'll get as far as the Zelos team got without giving up. Even if i had the knowledge and the time for setting up a private server, i probably wouldn't do it, due to all these ungratefull children, who can't stop complaining, although you are clearly doing your best to get the server running. I would have probably given up it already due to all the complaining people. Well, i appreciate that they didn't do that so far and i hope they won't do it, as it's definitely the best and most promising private server project out there atm.

Anyway i am waiting for your private server project, where you show us, how you do it all better than the Zelos team.^^

This is why they should have called the Closed Beta "Alpha Testing" and the "Open Beta" should have been called "Closed Beta" so stuff like this could have been fixed before the open beta lol.

but again, this wasnt something that could be pinpointed with as few people as the closed beta, and if they open the server to the public to test these sort of things they cery well cant call it a closed beta can they? just get over it.

seems like the argument regarding zelos is still on..

closed beta = chosen people to look for bugs. chosen people found bugs but not all of them
open beta = open to public people for them to look for bugs. they found MAJOR DC bug then people get pissed off.

zelos sro open beta = success because server bug on many clients connecting to server was found and is now being worked on..

please before flaming the developers and the beta testers, please ask mr google what beta is all about ok? im out..back to sleeping..

If you guys need someone to act a certain way so that YOU can feel good (this goes for all the parties involved) then you guys really lack your own personal power to feel good without relying on someone else.

Now of course its normal to get angry its a natural defense from feeling powerless and usually people move up and start to feel better and start to feel pretty good, unfortunately a lot of other people don't like to see anger because they are afraid that another persons anger is going to some how negatively affect them (in this case the zelos coder getting fed up at the bitching and calling it quits. . .and in this case you guys seem to forget, the coder (doom) is doing this for himself, not for anyone else, not for the people waiting, not for the people being all loyal and kissing his ass and getting mad at the people who talk shit no. . .he really doesn't give a shit about any of you guys, sorry to say, but hes doing it because he thought it would be good to make a good version of sro no matter how many millenniums it takes so Im pretty sure in this case of kronos ice crash and even cell(surprisingly) if he was going to be butt-hurt over people complaining. . .he would have quit last summer when he told us he would have it up by the end of summer and didn't and people were mad then, so im pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about what anyone thinks, hes just doing it because its fun to do!

Well, i would actually like to take a look at the irc, but i can't enter. It just keeps saying, that i am banned from the channel #zelos. I just went to the IRC on Sunday, as there were the most recent news about the status of the beta. Actually i didn't even write anything for the whole time, when i was on the IRC. I was just reading there to get informed about, what's actually going on. Later on i went afk for a while and when i came back, i was disconnected from the IRC. I tried to re-enter the IRC, but it didn't work and it still doesn't work actually. At first i tried it only with my nickname Kalypso, then with other random nicknames, but that didn't work either.

Im not defending anything but logic. Doom does fine avoiding the tards. Not visiting here, shutting his own forums off and making the irc silent or invite only.
Outside of potential attempt of trolls, when someone makes the choice to complain about something, I feel they should at least have some understanding of what they are complaining about. Several people here quite clearly don’t. I don’t mind being called out when I deserve it, but if you can show me where I was defending doom and not logic ill gladly concede. Btw, im certainly not kissing ass. I don’t treat them any different than anyone else. If any of them deserve to be farked with I don’t hesitate.

Im more than confident in the zelos team. I have been on their server, its great. I know that they have had the chance to quit for the past 10 years that they have been working on this, but look where they are now. Open beta. The first day of open beta and guess what? A huge bug that was realized previously, was pinpointed and is being corrected. That is what beta is for. The people whining and crying clearly cant grasp this. They should shut their mouths. I don’t give a fuck about their feelings. This isnt mr rogers f[ucking play land.

yeah I guess I don't know retards well but still, I have a high amount of faith in humanity, no one stays mad forever, and when someones mad the LAST thing they want to hear is someone else telling them that they are wrong in some way for being mad, that just makes things worse, sure you may believe that the cancer of retardation wont but it definitely wont end when people point fingers at them and claim how *right* they are and how *wrong* the person mouthing off is. . .that never works.

Tsro had the same issue with the guys from Venus that I played with for like a couple of months, something happened that COULD have been resolved if people just decided to relax and move on(the guy who made the *offense* apologized even and the leader of the guild accepted it and wanted to move on) but others wouldn't, they kept pushing and pushing, and the ones being pushed against. . .well they pushed back and it ddint stop until 80% of the union left Tsro before they got to lvl 45. . .and for the rest of the union after that, it just EVENTUALLY became a huge drama fest instead of leveling and grinding, until I just quit and everyone got banned two weeks later.

Yeah that was long but, im just saying that in the end it really does no good to push against something you don't want, whether it is a person mouthing off, or people just being people, it just makes it worse.

I was using Mibbit, as there was a link for it earlier on this topic. I am actually kinda new to using IRCs and i don't know any other programmes, which can be used for it. Which one would you recommend to use? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different programmes? Sorry, if these seem to be rather stupid questions to you, but i am not really experienced with that kind of stuff.

Oh, and TSRO was actually huge fun, except for the bots turning up and ruining everything for us, as they usually do. At least i enjoyed my time at TSRO and made a lot of new friends there. I am still in contact with some of them.

So how exactly do i get on the Zelos IRC with that programme? Absolutley no clue on how to set it up at all. There is not much help on how to do it on their website either.

Are there no other programmes, which can be used directly from the browser and are easier to set up?
