Can you substitute a BLADE for a SWORD?

Using the sword/shield build can I use a blade? The stats on the weapons look relatively the same and plus blade has more attack.

Then why is there a difference between a blader and a sworder? Can't you use a blade while being a S/S build?

blade has more phys attack and phys reinforce, so it's geared more for str builds. sword has more mag attack and mag reinforce, so it's geared more for int builds. but if u find a better blade over ur sword, then use the blade.

Swords have more magical damage than a blade, and vice-versa with blade and physical damage. You could use a blade with a s/s int-build if the blade had better stats than any sword you could find; i.e. an SoX Blade compared to a Non-SoX Sword. However, normally swords are better for any int s/s build.
