Regarding Faith skill on Rogue / Clerics

hey

so i noticed everyone wearing light armor when they are rogue cleric. obviously its a good idea because of the phy / mag buffs , but i always hated the game for all the people who followed the same ideas... thats why everyones a full str glaive haha . i noticed the faith skill provides a 20% hp healing increase when using a healing skill, so my question is does this affect apply to skills such as recovery division or healing cycle??? if so , then i might consider switching to robes for my rogue becuase i will be able to heal 3000 hp at lvl 90 with recovery division ( instead of 2.4k ) and its a change to the usual light armor rogues seen everywhere

thanks

I'm sorry to let your dream fall to pieces, but you're not the only one who would be using robes :D . I already switched around lvl 20.

About your question, I'm curious myself. I use robes for another reason, but this would be great if it worked.

It is definitely not worth it in my eyes.

A Pure STR Cleric with Light Armor, Charity and Absolute damage is extremely useful in job/cape wars and even in PvP against certain builds. My warrior is the ultimate wizard buster, nomatter how I play it, as long as I keep my guard up, there ain't no wizards killing it. You get the Bless, Skins, Vital Increase and when all of that run out or I just feel like staying cleric, I just take the rod and shield out, buff myself. When I see him come out of invisibility I just cast Healing Cycle (over Orbit because its a quicker cast with not much difference in healing) on me, quickly select him and 1 shot him with Overhealing/Glut healing (Forgot which one was the faster cast)

Another situation - If you are at a typical Job war at the gate or even out on the road, if your party stays together you will be alot more useful to the party as a Pure STR cleric. Giving out all the sweet buffs , casting Orbit constantly, using Absolute damage against the pesky wizards with screens and thousands of bless layers. To add to that, it would take quite a few to take you down if you are acting cleric and know how to keep your distance.

yea you make a good point on the usefulness of light armor str cleric builds. its true that u can get a good amount of phy/mag defense by passive and non passive skills. however, you can still wear robes and get some amount of phy / mag defense ( non passive skills + shield ). also note that whether its robe or light armor , both cases you need to change to cleric rod so you cant make that argument  . however , with robes , i suggest combining both the non passive phy/mag defense skills with the extra 20% healing power. in this case ,your benefiting with not only healing skills improving , but healing cycle and recovery division. i find it really annoying when i'm wearing light armor and spamming the healing skills because i don't heal enough :x , and i think that the 20% healing boost can make up and surpass the passive phy/mag defense buff, because all your skills involving healing are improved. and theres also the mp % increase and speed increase to 20% ,which is always decent. i found that when using robes i would need to click on the healing skill once and i was would be at top health. but with light armor , SPAM THAT HEALING SKILL OR DEATH IS NEAR!!!

another point isits different :D how many rogues do u see wearing robes???? its because people don't look into these skills in depth , they just get introduced to one idea and follow that idea.

let me know what you think, i didnt come to this forum just to hear myself type lol

never see a rogue in robe, thats true
but it also depends on no. of str/nuker ratio on ur server

in mercury, there are LOADS of str, esp. glaivers/bow/warriors
so most rogues wear heavy armour here, or maybe LA

so it depends whether ur server has more int or more str to decide wat u wear as well

in babel we have a load of wizards , rogues , and glaives ... i think int users have dropped a bit becuase of their one hit deaths by euros.. as usual we have like 2 warlocks XD and 1000s of gold spammers :)

but yea im gonna move away from the LA and try this new idea , if im right, the 20% should compensate the phy / mag defense loss in the switch and actually bring more positives

I've always wondered why I was the only tank in my union going Light Armor, when the rest are going heavy armor, or robes...Anywho, on topic:

With the Faith skill, which you'll need to level anywho if you want a competent cleric sub, its passive is only active if you have robe with cleric rod equipted. So, with robes on when you switch to clericing, you'll have the 20% healing boost, and the other boosts as well, but not when you switch back to rogue/whatever.

However, for an overall better "tanking" approach to the cleric sub, Light Armor would be a better choice in my opinion. Seeing as you have Charity, and the other physical and magical defense passives when you have cleric rod equipted, you can also give yourself body/soul blessing/deity, which'll give you even more defense for when you really need to tank. Plus, being able to heal constantly helps ^,^.

Also, with the Faith passive, you can get the Cleric mastery's absolute damage skills: Glut/Over healing, which come in handy against certain builds, i.e., rogues, wizards, clerics, etc.

Robes are a good choice against wizards, and sometimes chinese (due to their hybrid damage). However, against any STR based euro, you'll be lucky to stand after 1 or 2 hits.

really not worth it:
1-only makes a difference when u have the cleric rod on, in such case u'll be either buffing a party or tanking a wizard.. in both conditions u'll need the passives
2-u dont want to see warriors kicking ur butt in robes, do u?
3-robes are horrible for soloing, and since rogues are mainly a solo build so..
4-with recovery division + healing cycle/orbit u'll be healing like insane anyway.. u wont be needing any more healing, u'll need more defence to back up that healing
5-light armor looks sexy :D

Hmm...love it 8) Seems like I'm the only Rogue wearing Robes :D

Anyway, at what lvl do you have your cleric sub? I've got it at 40, so if you happen to also have it at 40 we could just try it out.
