The difference between a spear and a glavie?

Just what the topic says. It looks to me like most of the people are using glavies, so is the spear weaker or what?

Glavies I think have stronger Physical damage, while Spears have higher Magical damage.

People that use Glavie are pure STR or a hybrid STR. That is because out of all the weapons Glavie has the most physical damage. People that use Spear are pure INT or a hybrid INT, because out of all the weapons it has the highest magical damage.
